I would gladly tell you, maybe you could kill that trait out of em. You might have to be on call though.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

Bankhead birds are desendants of birds that were in the state when there were very few left. Which makes them battle tested in my opinion. The population is spotty and lower than it should be with the habitat they have. There are some of the best turkey hunters in the world that hunt Bankhead for the challenge and there's a few locals that are stone cold turkey killers and would give you the shirt of there back until it comes to turkeys in which case they are ruthless FYI!!! Think this sums it up. Good post.

The birds are there, or at least they were when I quit hunting them. I called up many a lonesome Tom in those mountains near Mount Hope and had a great time doing it. They do not stand still and let you kill them, so be ready to move when you need to. I haven't been there in about 15 years, so good luck.

Oh he does.
He's just referring to what day to hunt those no gobbling son of guns in bankhead.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

Biologist over there for years used to tell me about them. Said the area always had turkeys so they are survivors. Said they're notoriously call shy. Got the impression it's really not a run-n-gun deal.
“Killing tomorrow’s trophies today.”
On the distance I like to walk to my stands: “The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”
