deerkiller24 OP 4 point D Joined: Nov 2014 Posts: 254 leeds al	I have a marlin jm stamped 30-30. Some of the clear coat is coming off. Thinking about sanding it down and putting a new coat on it. What would yall recommend.

odocoileus 14 point Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 7,115 Selma	. I just got a 1962 35 rem that the stock was a little rough and my gunsmith did a mild refinish on it. Not sure exactly what he did but it looks awesome, and still has the character of a 50 year old hunting rifle. Regardless of age, most of the good old marlins are in the 400-500 range so I don't think you should worry about losing value on it.

It can be left glossy or rubbed with 0000 steel wool and the stock sheen and conditioner for a softer satin look. There are two types of gun enthusiasts ...
