Was trying to find them new but I'm guessing h&r has bought them out? Anyone know when this happened? Trying to replace my first gun my grandad got me. I was young and dumb and sold it . It was just a single shot .410 but it means a lot more now that I'm older and he isn't doing as good as he was 20 years ago

H&R, NEF, and Marlin are all the same company now. I bought an NEF Handi-Rifle at Creedmoor Armory in Anniston. I think any dealer who sells one of those brands can also sell the others.

My son has a Stevens 410 my Dad bought in 1942. No telling how many quail and varmints been shot with that little gun. I used it to shoot the first thing I ever shot, a muskrat.

H&R/NEF no longer exist as a company as of December last year. Remington bought them out a few years back and ceased production last year. Sad but true. There is a big write up about it on Graybeard outdoors.

H&R is now H&R 1871. Remingon/ H&R 1871 won't even service the H&R guns manufactured prior to the acquisition

I sent an h&r tamer 20 back to have the ejector replaced and Remington was who repaired it. Returned with their service order, and wasn't the nicest on the phone, discussing the issue.

I'm not sure when it was made.

I sent a buffalo classic back due to misfires due to the pin hitting the primer way off center. All remington did was put a heavier firing pin spring in it. Got it back and it still misfired, but not as bad. They said that was all they could do with it. Still pissed off about it.

That's weird. I have an old H&R muzzle loader from the 70s. I sent an email asking for the age and a manual. It took a couple of weeks to get it, but they did send it. What about Marlin? They were owned by H&R 1871. Will they not service those guns either?

The other bummer of this that I just thought of is that I was planning to buy another barrel for my son's handi rifle. Will they not sell and fit those either now?

No. NEF/ H&R 1871 no longer exists as a company. Only option now for spare barrels is the used market.

My first 2 guns were New England firearms. In fact most of my friends had NEF as their first weapons.

Maybe they changed their policy I was only relating an experience from a few years ago. However if you look at their current webpage it states they are not able to offer service on "older" firearms. Not sure what that means though. I have never contacted Marlin for service so I don't know whatbthey may offer. I will say though they are about as easy to work on as a savage, so you'd probably never need to send one back. Unless it was a new one. 😊
