I notice several rifle makers are offering models with threaded barrels and are advertising that they are ready for the accesory of your chosing. But I have never noticed these accesories for sale. And, are they alabama legal?

Have to file for a tax stamp in order to own a suppressor. Perfectly legal in AL. You don't see them very often in retail stores, but there are several firearms dealers and online dealers that carry them.

I have a break on my 7mag. My uncle had it put on after his open heart surgery. It kicks like a 243. But i want have another gun with a break because it's so loud.

especially interested in the savage hog hunter in 308, but my intentions are not hog related. Thinking about it as a close quarters thick brush deer rifle. Really wondering what the purpose is for the threaded barrel.

Dealers have to be Class 3 dealers to deal in suppressors, machineguns, short barrel rifles, etc. Not your typical gun shop. Read up on National Firearms Act of 1934.

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

Craig's, in Montgomery, carries suppressors and some brakes, but maybe mostly for rim fire stuff?

Folks like to shoot pigs with suppressors. They can shoot more than 1 before they spook. The threaded muzzle makes it easier to mount a suppressor

I have a buddy who just bought a hog hunter. It's a very accurate rifle.

There are two types of gun enthusiasts ... Those who have been F#CKED by PTG and those who will be!

Oh I know exactly what they have to be. For somebody that doesn't know much about suppressors they typically won't know what a class 3 dealer is. That's why I went the route I did with my post.

I, for one, HATE muzzle breaks. I'll never own a rifle with one. If can't handle the recoil, I'll shoot a smaller caliber rifle. The muzzle blast just isn't worth it.

I also don't have much use for a suppressor, but I'd like to have one.

I own both. The rifles I own with muzzle breaks are = Mission Specific. I dont take a rifle with a break, and climb -up a tree. I have a rifles without a break for that purpose. BUT if im in a stand that over looks a 300 acre cornfeild or a large cutover I use a gun with a break. I feel like with large open places, I will have time to put on ear protection

Check out the ruger american predator in 308. I was looking at it and the hog hunter and the savage is fairly heavy for what it is. that was the final deciding factor for me to go with the ruger.

I hate a muzzle break. I got no use for one on a hunting rifle.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Suppressors (aka silencers) are great because they reduce felt recoil, sound concussion, and you save your hearing. They are expensive and the wait is almost unbearable. Some muzzle breaks can be obnoxious and make your gun SUPER loud. There are some though that actually direct the sound away from you and reduce felt recoil and I really like these especially when my wife is shooting. They are called low concussion breaks I think. I had one on my 308 and I could definitely tell a big difference in recoil and how loud the boom was.
