The weight distribution is the same either way, don't matter if it's lowered or jacked up.. now if he had a 1200 lb load of lime in the bed he would hook up  Yeah, I'm serious... Not trying to ridicule anyone, just stating facts, go ahead and educate us on your directional force theories so I will better understand how a truck that's squared dpwn in the rear has better traction ok... gravity pulls an object perpendicular to level. So, if you put a 10# book on a level coffee table, over the front legs, most of the weight rests on the front legs. But, if you take that same coffee table, and raise the front of it 15 degrees, leave the book in the same place, a portion of that weight has been diverted to the rear legs. Imagine trying to set that book on the coffee table with the front legs extended more than the back. The book would want to slide towards the back correct? That is the force being diverted to the rear. And yes, it transfers a portion of that weight to the rear, depending on the angle, and position of the book. What? Physics isn't your strong suit is it? I was trying to come up with an analogy. Please correct me, if raising one end of a plane, that is supported at two points, does not transfer some portion of weight to the lower support point on the plane.... because it does. Ever carried a couch up some stairs?

I'm listening  ...wasn't trying to come across as a smartass last night, I just don't see how lowering the rear of a truck will give it better traction, I could see how weight would contribute, look at a sled puller they aren't lowered but have enough counterweight on the front and rear to hook up and go...I guess I see the point kind of, still looks ghey

weight distribution changes. now, whether or not 4-5" higher in the front of a truck is enough to make a "noticeable" difference, I doubt it. but yes it will change the weight distribution

I believe a couch being carried up the stairs has a constant weight. I also believe that weight is supported by a structure, in this case two people, and the portion of the weight being carried by either of them can be changed by the angle of the object.

I believe a couch being carried up the stairs has a constant weight. I also believe that weight is supported by a structure, in this case two people, and the portion of the weight being carried by either of them can be changed by the angle of the object. The weight won't change, but the center of mass will on an inclined plane. I think. But not enough on one of those trucks to make a big difference in traction.

So you're saying if a piece of steel, lets say angle iron, was hanging from two chains. The chains were both 1' from each end. Also, there was a scale hooked in line with the chains and each scale read 200 lbs , for example.
Now I raised one end of the steel 2', the lower end would now read more than 200 lbs and the higher scale would read less?

Anyone that doesn't believe weight distribution changes things dramatically never raced anything or flew an airplane. Don't argue that fact, you'll lose. Just sayin'. well, I mean, there's probably a bunch of folks here that never raced anything or flew airplanes..... but yes weight distribution can be affected

Take it to this extreme: take that piece of angle iron and stand it at 90* from the floor. Where's all the weight now. And as you let the piece back down to 0*, the weight gradually balances.
