I have a bird I have been hunting for 4-5 years now, which means he is likely 6 years old. I have had numerous encounters with him, even shot and missed him once. I have tried every trick in the book and nothing works. I have even attempted to surround him with two other hunters and but he still vanishes. I have learned over the years to never call to him on the roost, all you do is let him know where you are and he goes the other way. I have set guest up on one side of him and I would set up on the other. I knew they would call, and he would start my way to only disappear. I am convinced the bastage has tunnels like the VC did. I had him within 70 yards two weeks but he had hens with him and I could never get in front of him. He escapes to my neighbors property and game over. I've tried just a fly down cackle and quiet. Nope. I tried purrs and clucks, cutting, even gobbled at him. Nope. Short of shooting him out of the tree, which I could have done on two occasions, I am starting to think this bird cant be killed. Took a guys who is very well known for his calls and expert calling, thinking maybe he just needs to hear something different. He chewed him up and spit him out. Nope. I have named this bird LUCIFER, he is the DEVIL. He ruins my season year after year, taunting me and anyone else I send his way.
What is left to do that I haven't tried or thought about trying?????

I'd be glad to take this bird off of your hands so you can continue with your season. Don't be shocked when you kill him and he is a 2 year old.

if he has given you all of that and been around as long as you say he has, all that is left is the ambush. it's either you kill him by ambush or let the sum *(&^% die of old age and the buzzards and yotes eat him. after all of that "I" would want his butt smothered in white gravy good luck and hope you run into him soon.

Short of shooting him out of the tree, which I could have done on two occasions, I am starting to think this bird cant be killed. Well, I'd be blasting that SOB out of a tree one morning...

Ive been hunting a bird just like this for 4 years now. I saw him youth weekend but haven't seen him since. Ive got him on camera but he hasn't gobbled anytime I have gone hunting. He usually gets fired up mid april and will hammer on the limb and run you around in circles when he hits the ground. My advice is go hunt other birds and get a couple of kills and then come back and hunt the big boy towards the end of season. Mainly because you have the weight off your shoulder of knocking down a couple of birds and dont feel like you're wasting all your time. Heres the best trail cam pic of him... 223 works better for reaching out and touching them. Just saying.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

How do y'all know you're hunting the same birds? It has to be, they are in the same area each year. See my previous post in this thread.

I think more often than not the "same" turkey is a different turkey in an area preferred by turkeys, or an area that a boss turkey usually inhabits. Not saying it's not possible, but not very probable, unless you have distinguishing features on camera that prove the same bird is still in the area year after year.
