Well, Saturday morning I got my first real limbhanger. I set up in a small field between a swampy area and a pasture that adjoins our land. Right at daylight a couple of owls started hooting and he gobbled. It sounded like he was about 100 yards away so I just sat tight and waited till flydown time. About 20 minutes went by and he gobbled on the ground and I started purring and clucking. I didn't hear him for a little while so I made a soft yelp and he answered back. I could tell he was coming so I just shut up. A few minutes went by and I could hear him walking right at the edge of the field. Finally I saw some movement and heard him drumming. He gobbled one more time and just kept strutting back and forth. I decided to make a few more purrs and clucks and he came in a little closer and finally stepped in a little opening where I could see him. He walked up onto a little dirt mound and looked out into the field and saw my jake and hen decoys. He must have decided he wasn't going to tolerate a jake moving in on one of his hens and he sprinted all the way through the field to the jake decoy and went into strut about a foot away from the decoy. He came back out of strut and stood straight up and I thought he was going to flog him so I gave him a nice dose of nitros. He hit the ground graveyard dead at 15 steps. 25lbs. 1 1/2" spurs 9" beard
