I've been looking for and researching Kamado style grills for awhile. I ran across a real good deal on a Vision today. It looks to be built real well, a good warranty, and comes with lots of accessories. Anybody got one or know anything about em?

I have the large one - as you said, it comes with many accessories including the electric starter which works great.

For the money they are hard to beat. After cooking on mine twice, I accidentally rolled it off my patio. It's only about 3 inches from patio to ground but I had the lid up cleaning it and when it went off the edge of patio the lid shattered into many, many pieces.

It took $225, about a month, and a lot of raising hell to get a replacement lid, notice I didn't say new lid. The lady I spoke with said they were having difficulty getting various components, they sent me a slightly used lid. After a month I accepted it gladly and it worked fine. Other than that frustration I have been well pleased.

A word of advice - the back wheels on the grill stand have locking mechanisms - USE THEM. If I had, it would've never rolled off the patio. It has a removable ash box that fits in pretty tightly - you have to pick up on it then pull it out. That picking up motion caused the grill to roll backwards and off the patio edge. I had it just a few inches from the edge. The lid fiasco was completely my fault but again, getting another lid was a challenge.

If you can get one at price that suits you - you won't regret it. Like all Kamodo style grills, you can cook for hours on hat full of charcoal. The best thing about it is the ability to get it up to 700 degrees where you can sear a steak. I tried their recommended way of cooking a steak and it was hands down the best I've ever produced. Just a little olive oil, salt and pepper on each side, fire the frill up to 650-700 degrees and put the steak on for 1 1/2 minutes per side. Remove and cool the grill down to around 400 and finish them to desired doneness. If you like your steak really, really rare; then they will be perfect for you after you do the minute and half on each side deal. I always fancied myself a pretty good steak griller but the process I described above elevated my game to another level.

Good luck and enjoy.

I've had one for two years. I bought it from a member here. It was too small for him because he needed to do multiple butts and ribs at a time. He had only cooked on it a few times. I got it for less than $300 and couldn't be happier.

As far as I know all Large BGE accessories work with the Vision. After using my Vision I couldn't imagine buying a BGE or KJ for almost $1,000. Mine sits in the stainless steel grill stand now. The stand is holding up well. I would like to build a table for mine to give myself a little more room than the flip up sides.

Mine has a two tier grill grate. I don't know if that's standard on the Vision or was added by the previous owner, but I really like it. I have a butt and two racks of ribs on mine now. Butt on bottom, ribs on top.

I got one from Sam's. The grill I am very pleased with. But Sam's did a low down move. They had the "Large" version at Sam's for $599 I think for a good while, well during the black friday sales Sam's listed the Vision ceramic grill on Sale from 599 down to 399. Well come to find out Sam's swapped out the damn grills for the "medium" version with no accessories. They took all the large versions off the floor and off their website too. To this point I had never even seen the "medium" version on the floor at Sam's. Once Christmas arrived and I go to unpack the box we realize it is not the same size. Called Sam's they said they no longer had the Large model so I kept the medium one. Come March, Sam's had the large versions back out on the floor. I think people even gave the grill bad reviews on Sam's website but it was due to Sam's not the grill it self.

Well I pulled the trigger. Now I've got to get this heavy SOB up on my top deck and put together. TR I've got a heart in the freezer and it will be being defrosted soon.

You'll love it. We just got done eating the ribs I mentioned earlier. My wife said "I was mad when you brought home that grill, but now I wish you had gotten one sooner."

Meatloaf and cornbread in a CI skillet is pretty good on the Vision, also. Look up spatchcock chicken. I do those on gameday's and there's never anything left.
