Since I'm heading to Kansas later this year to try to kill a wallhanger I'm trying to find the best Kansas forum and ask the locals some questions. Do any of y'all have a Kansas website that you can recommend? I've signed up at the Bowsite forum but that thing is prehistoric.

I can tell you that the Kansas guys will not help you much. They do not care for non resident hunters. I lived in central kansas for 5 years I may be able to help.

They don't like NRs for sure. They say we destroyed the hunting in the entire state.

I tried the bowsite.com forum before I started going a few years back and like boy47 says they pretty much told me to stay outta Kansas and hunt my own state. They hate non residents! A local guy reached out to me on a private message and honestly it started a friendship that would be hard to duplicate. I've been up there hunting with him for the last few years and was lucky enough to kill a gross Booner last year. He's brought his family down here 3 or 4 times to vacation with my family. I've learned alot from him and he's learned a little from me. I will also be willing to help you any way I can. My question to you is did you draw a tag? Because there were double the applicants that applied this year compared to last year. I've got buddies of mine that go hunting out there that didn't draw this year. Yes, I have my tags and license. Any input is most appreciated.

Hunting in KS isn't real hard once you find the deer. I always had really good luck hunting the wooded draws during the rut mid-day. The hardest part for me hunting out there was learning how to hunt semi-flat very little trees terrain. The two best options are lock-on stand or a blind. Climbers do work however it is hard to find a straight tree where you need it. Calls and scents work out like no place I have ever seen. If you have or can find a contact out there don't go until they start seeing deer killed on the roads. Once you hear the deer are getting ran over get there and get there quick. You will not go wrong with the dates of Halloween to about 14 Nov.
