They look really nice, but in my experience, any unnecessary hole in the roof has way more potential to go wrong rather than right. I might be missing out, but I'll take a little more darkness over having to scramble for buckets every time it rains. this

I have a similar one in each bathroom. Mine have a flexible tube instead of rigid. What do you want to know? Basically wanting to know if it produces enough light to make it worth the effort to install one? If done right, there shouldn't be any leaks. "If" is the biggest two letter word in the dictionary though.

You got a bullet hole you are trying to cover up?
Seriously, I have 2 large ones that I wish I didn't have. Leaks are a pain.

If I remember correctly Inline Electric on Bob Wallace has a display model with the flex tube.
Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

It lets in a ton of light. No need to turn on the lights in either bathroom during the day. I've had several people come to my house for the first time and try to figure out how to turn the "light" off. They assume it is some fancy new LED light fixture. Now whether it is "worth the effort"? I can't say. They were here when I bought the place. I don't know how difficult they are to install or the costs involved. I hesitate to even mention this part - the house is 15 years old, I've owned it for over 3 years, and there haven't been any issues with leaks. I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

I put one in my last home. It's far less likely to leak over a conventional skylight since there is no straight edge to dam the water. It produced enough light that, if a full moon was above, I didn't have to turn on the light at night to walk to the toilet. During the day it produces plenty of light. Mine was a solatube brand.

They sure have to be installed by someone who knows what they are doing! I've seen many with leak issues.

All skylights leak eventually.I bet we've taken 30-40 out of houses and mobile homes over the years and covered over the hole because of leaks and some you sit back and scratch your head wondering where the hell its leaking at. Mine has never leaked (9 years). The portion of it that penetrates the roof looks just like a natural gas exhaust. Mine is about 6" round and the part on the roof has a soldered flange to nail to roof. If you lay shingles correct I doubt it will leak.
