My advice is try them on period. No matter what brand they'll feel different. I have a pair of Rocky's that I like because they are lightweight, but they were stiff as heck until I got them broke in. I have heard good reviews from Danners as well.

I don't know if they carry Chippewa's, but I bought a pair of them before turkey season last year and really like them. No leaking at all so far too which is a first for a pair of snakeboots for me. They are expensive though

Don't get the zip up Rockies unless you like having wet feet. They are anything but waterproof. I have the Lacrosse Mud-lite snake boots and I really like them, but I don't think Bass Pro carries them.

Yep. I had a pair last me about 5 years. Still good boots but I wore through the gore tex lining and they leak now.

Pros:
Longevity
Tough as nails
Wear like sneakers

Cons:
Expensive
Heavy
Sole isn't agressive like I would like.

Trade it for a cabelas card and get the cabelas lace ups. I've had mine 2 years and they are still 99% waterproof. I haven't seen a boot that was 100% after a year. They might make some but I'm not spending $300 on boots.

I go through a pair of snake boots about every year to every other year. I have found that leather/man made material seems to last longer and has better water resistant qualities. I just bought a pair of Danner's and this is my second pair. I expect to get at least two years out of them. I have had some luck with Rocky Pro Lite 16's but they don't stay water proof long. They are 100% man made material. A pair of Gokey's or Russell's will last you most of your life, but will leak with the best of them.

I have the Irish setter for two years. Very happy with them. Very light and comfortable the first day

They do but didn't see them in any camo color. Not so worried about that during bow season but turkey season is a different matter. And yeah, they are about $100 more than the other brands.

I can get only one turkey season out of any boot I buy. I have not tried Chippewa boots, Danner or Irish Setter yet. I guess they will be what I buy this winter. The quality of ALL LaCrosse boots has gone way down in about the last 5-10 years. I've tried all that Rocky has too offer and they don't make it either.

I have the Irish Setter waterproof boots. They are a great boot and very comfortable. Mine lasted about a season and a half before they started leaking. But I do put some rough miles on them.

I have Irish setters as well and they leak, have leaked since almost day 1. I waterproof them each spring before use and although it helps I still have wet feet wearing them. The worst is walking through fields early morning especially late season when the grass is about knee high! I've always questioned a boots ability to stop a snake bite but yet it allows water in?! However the Irish setters are very comfortable and lightweight(before they get wet). Mine are older so the newer ones might do better with water. I've about decided to just wear my muck boots and pay close attention!

Danner hands down. I've been using the same pair for 6 years. I clean them good and spray them with the silicone aerosol each year.

You don't need camo boots. Never had my brown chippewas cost me a bird. Now, there are about 1000 other things that did but the brown boots wasn't one of them. LOL laugh

X2. Camo boots are like camo guns. They're purty, but not necessary

Definitely check for waterproofness. I have some of the BPS-branded snake boots w/ gusseted zip on the side and they're comfortable but definitely not waterproof.

I have also had good luck with the Cabelas lace ups; sometimes they are on sale for cheap.

I tried on a pair of Lacrosse 4x Alpha's. They are a hybrid rubber/snakeboot. They were fairly comfortable for the 150.00 price tag.
I would love to own a pair of Chippewa's, but I just can't justify 300.00 on a pair of boots. I tried on one of the moccasin toe Chippewa's on at Mark's in birmingham, they are an 18" boot, I'm 5'10" and they were all the way up to the back of my knee, so much so it was a little uncomfortable. Having owned many pairs of good leather boots beforehand, I bet they are pretty comfortable once they are good and broke in.
