Yeah they are expensive buying from the stores especially if you have multiple stands. I ordered enough rope for 5 lines and to have two prusik knots on each line for $80 and a hour of my time not a bad deal.

It's sterling 7.5 mil personal escape/search rope. It's the same rope I have in my bailout bag at the fire department. They had 50ft sections on sale the beginning of the week so I ordered 3 sections. Shipping is quick too! All the specs are on the web site and it meets NFPA standards. Like any other rope if it's shock loaded it should not be used in life safety applications ever ever again!

I'm glad you mentioned the shock load nacho. I was going to ask about that. I work in construction sales, scaffolding to be exact, and we all use lifelines when working high up. Ours are 5/8" and are designed specifically to be used as lifelines. They have a core in the middle that will stretch/give when shocked due to a fall. Regular rope should never be used as it can snap when shocked due to a person falling. It's not expensive either. Especially when considering what it's used for. I usually sell it between $0.80-$1.00 per foot.
If voting made any difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.-Mark Twain

Here's the description from the web site. It's a smaller kernmantle rope the core is pretty tough to cut. It's half price as of right now. No one plans on falling but if I do fall I believe this rope will keep me from hitting the ground.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
MSRP: 47.65
Developed for and the official search rope of FDNY, the SearchLite is a 7.5mm cord with reflective fibers in the sheath and a strand of Technora in the core.
MBS of 3,017 lbs Technora core strand combined with nylon core provides for added heat resistant and ease of handling Reflective yarns illuminate rope when light shines on it Better heat resistance than standard nylon cord or webbing Compact, supple, easy to knot, and extremely durable Easier to handle than webbing with gloved hands Great for primary or personal search lines
