Ive tanned deer hides before at home using the Lutan-F kit from Van Dykes Taxidermy. I really dont wanna tackle doing ten of them. How much would it cost for a taxidermist to tan them for me. Once tanned im going to cut them all the same size and sow them together and make one big rug. Thought maybe somebody on here could give me a price or a taxi could chime in and give me a price.

been an indian fella advertising on craigslist for a while. I think he was around Talladega though but he had some pictures of his work on there & he might be worth the drive. I'll try to find that ad again & post it up for you.

Me and a trapping buddy used them about 6 years ago and they asked nothing about if we were taxidermist....
Just took our money and we received our order back a few months later and the quality was great! Yes we did flesh salt and dried the hides.

Sounds good. Im still not sure how im going to sow them together but ill cross that bridge when the time comes,

They did a great job, quick turnaround, and if you want, they'll "bank" furs/hides for you. For example, if you want something made by them that takes 20 sq ft of hide, you can send them hides and they'll bank them for you until you have 20. If you have over 20, they'll hold the excess on account or send it to you.

I've never had them make anything, but I had a huge case-skinned red fox tanned, and 10 years down the road it still looks great and the fur is holding firm!

I have a hair on deer hide rug made by W.B. Place, but I see they are no longer taking hides.
