for all you know it all auto shooters..MOST women "limp wrist" a handgun. With a revolver it dosen't effect function, but with an auto it make a "failure to feed " jam much more probable.

99.3% of all women shooters cannot fix a jam in under three minutes.....80% of you men shooters cannot either....

ya'll keep playing around.....

I have to agree with BF on this one. A revolver is much for suited to a woman for a EDC or CCW.

My wife was the same way with the Sig P238. The slide on the Sig is so easy to rack and it fits her hand perfect with the extensions and without the extensions. Loved it and hated most everything else, and I have to say that is one sweet shooting pistol. I am thinking about getting the 938 for myself.

If your wife doesn't go shooting on her own right now get her an Airweight 38 revolver for her purse.

I'm carrying this in my pocket today. Something like this would work.

I agree with Troy. Unless she is an avid shooter, she would be best served by a revolver. Certainly not a Glock. Too many "experts" get shot by not knowing what they are doing with them.

My wife carries S and w 642. It's hammer less and like others have said goes bang every time. My wife had the Taurus 738 tcp but she doesn't have a lot of hand strength and had difficult pulling back the slide. I wanted to get her a revolver chambered in 357 and let her practice with with .38 and put 357 in for ccw and if she ever needed it and shot she wouldn't know the difference in the heat of the moment.

There are several issues with this statement.
Women are capable of running a gun other than a snubnose with practice.

I concur as well. Tickled that my bride settled on a Ruger LCR as her CCW of choice.

Heck I even carry a P238 myself. Fits perfect in my pocket and no no one ever knows. I also carry a S&W .642. Both are great firearms.

I go through this about five times a day. Only thing I've seen that consistently works is to let her choose her own and then test fire it. 75% end up with a hammerless revolver. best one was on Sat when a very well endowed lady went through the selection. I asked how she would carry it. She smiled, took the revolver out of my hand, leaned over the counter, and inserted it to the inside cup of her left boob. She jiggled around a little, did a shake or two, then said that's the one she wanted. Felt just right.

An APEX Duty Spring kit really smooths and lightens the trigger pull on a S&W 642. That should make a big difference for women with low hand strength.

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

Thanks for posting this. I have 4 different 38 revolvers and my wife can't seem to be able to pull the trigger on any of them with ease.

Don't just hand give her a tool and expect her to use it. Train her to use the tool she choses.
Get her in a basic pistol class. Then take her to a range with rentals, rent/shoot different guns once decided on a gun, buy it and get her through a defensive pistol course. That way she is equipped and trained.

Wasn't asking to just give her a gun and let her shot me or herself. She shoots, she packs and has shot several different guns. I was more curious as what everyone thought a good cc for a woman is. Lcp she has now has no safety and I am not too crazy bout that. For sure want give her a piece of junk glock. I just figured most women that were carrying were use revolvers. Just seeing what the panel thought.

in 2000 i bought a s&w revolver from a county deputy. it was his ankle gun/pocket piece. thought it was the 642 but it is the 442. it has been a great carry gun. small enough to put in pocket of blue jeans (levi type, not super skinny model type jeans with half-pockets). hammerless = no catching/snagging. it is very light so no problem not wanting to carry it. shoots well so get in plenty of practice time. ammo is not expensive = more practice time.

i would not carry anything smaller than .38 caliber but i'm old school.

can't go wrong with a revolver; easy peasy. most ladies will not put in consistent training to warrant need for pistol. will take a lot of hours for muscle memory to remember all the steps they would have to take in "a situation". my $.02

My wife carries a G42 and is very comfortable with it. Great shooter too. The best gun for anyone will be the one they are most comfortable with and can shoot/handle safely.

Another vote for Sig P238. I have very small hands and it is perfect for me. I tried the Bodyguard and LCP, but they were much harder to slide.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but if you decide to buy a woman an auto, make damn sure she can pull the slide back and clear the weapon. You will be surprised how many women can't do that!

My wife couldn't do it on her Ruger LCP [and she lifts weights] until I coached her on it and showed her how to grip the slide better. A lot of women don't have the grip strength.

Just sayin'...
