Last year the rut was intense we actually killed 6 bucks during the first week of Jan. So far this weekend we saw 3 does all with lil ones and not one buck could the weather or something similar have effected the deer movement. Also heard similar stories from guys at the calico dinner.

We are northwest of Marion and the small bucks are chasing on fields right at dark. We saw two racks this weekend cruising and I killed one of them.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I hunt outside Hamilton and saw a small buck chasing a doe after dark. They ran out in front of me on my drive home. Nothing during the day time. Maybe soon!!!

Bucks are running does I have mature buck pictures in daylight to prove it. It is not just wide open, most chasing is happening in the mornings. I will post up a pic or two shortly. I watched 2 8 pts push does and make about 10 scrapes friday but none of those does were hot or they had already been bred.

I hunt in Perry county as well. Bucks were chasing hard 31st and 1st last week in the mornings. Afternoons were dead. I saw 5 different bucks chasing does between 7 and 10 am on the 31st and another chasing around 730 on the January 1st. The pattern was the same last year as well.

Turkey Neck did you eat dinner at the Lotus Garden Saturday night? My buddies and i ate there and we were talking to two guys that hunt on 23 and 29 that their club had killed four 8 points and a 9 point that day.

No wasn't me. It sounded like a dove shoot that way all morning though.

I am just outside Marion. I shot an 8 cruising Friday afternoon but no movement at all today. I saw some small bucks following does right after Christmas but no chasing.

They're trying to. Last week I seen a 3.5 year old 130 class 8pt chasing a doe and Sunday afternoon I seen a doe that looked like a buck had been riding her. Both were seen use a few miles north of Marion on 16 and 29.
