If it was up to me, I'd do away with just about every gun law there is. If you get convicted of a felony with a gun there would be mandatory minimums of 25-Life. If it's a violent crime then it'd be Life in prison. There would be no parole for any of these convictions.

The issue aint guns...the issue is dirt bag judges handing out insignificant sentences. Like the one handed out to the two guys in Oregon that everyone wants to protest now that they finally got the correct sentence? Judges have to sentence people according to the law. Don't like the sentences, then it is the legislators fault for setting the sentence ranges.

So, you think felons, wife beaters, drug addicts, people with severe mental impairments should all be able to have guns? You think there shouldn't be punishment for using a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime or a violent crime? You think it shouldn't be illegal to sell a gun to a felon, or any of the other banned people? Those are just a few gun laws I will always support.

An armed populace is a polite populace. When everyone is armed, the people you speak of are removed from the gene pool relatively quickly.
Let's say you have a guy/girl who goes through a devastating divorce with tons of mental/emotional strife caused by the other party. In the time the divorce is going on, they seek counseling for severe depression. In one of the counseling sessions they say they are contemplating suicide. Now, let's say they get through the horribleness caused by others and go back to a normal life with no depression.
The person above can never have a gun again by your rules.
Sorry, I don't like those rules. I will take care of my own security - thank you very much. The very best police force in the world with the shortest response times, the highest level of training, the absolute best in equipment and the best retention of all of those valuable human resources can not protect a single person in this world. They can simply respond to crimes after they have occurred.
Whoever is happy will make others happy too. Anne Frank

You can't comprehend what I wrote. I never said someone who suffered from depression shouldn't be able to own a gun. I never said someone who seeks mental health treatment shouldn't be able to own a gun. Those are not my rules and they are not the law either. The law deals with people with severe debilitating mental illnesses.
And armed populous can not protect a wife from her abusive husband. The police can't either. But, assuring he doesn't have a gun so that the next time he doesn't shoot her is something I will always stand behind.
Not all gun laws are bad. In fact, most federal gun laws are not a problem for anyone. It is state and local gun laws that are restrictive.
If you think every person in America regardless of their past should be walking around with a gun, you are crazy.
Do you even know anything about federal gun laws? Or are you just spouting off without knowing what you are talking about.
Can you point me to a single federal gun law that keeps a law abiding citizen from having or carrying a gun? Clearly you've missed where Obama is coming into your house personally within the next 7-10 business days to get all of your guns

Having dealt with the negative side of society all my working career, I will unequivocally maintain that there are just some people in our society that have no business with guns. This is for everyone's protection, often including their own .
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Just playing devils advocate here but isn't is against the law for a law abiding citizen to carry a gun into a church? A school? An airplane? I seem to recall shootings in those places recently.

I HAVE ALWAYS WONDERED THIS AND NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND AN ANSWER, THE SECOND AMENDMENT GIVES US THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS CORRECT? SO IF THE LAW STATES CONVICTED FELONS ECT CAN NOT HAVE A FIREARM IS THAT NOT INFRINGING ON THE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES? THIS IS JUST A SIMPLE QUESTION AND I DO NOT CONDONE THOSE TYPES OF PEOPLE HAVING GUNS

I believe the second amendment was meant to include any weapon our government has access to. How else would we protect ourselves from an oppressive government? That being said, if Uncle Sam wanted to take our guns forcefully and right now, I reckon we have about a snowballs chance you know where, of stopping them with our semi auto rifles and shotguns. You are not going to stop f-18's or even a B-52, very effectively with the weapons that we have access to. Sure, a few have a FFL that allows them to have SLIGHTLY better than average weapons, but that is yet another issue. They have to PAY for what is supposed to be a RIGHT ensured by the 2nd. Even then, it's conditional. But then the USA provides some of the most sophisticated weaponry in the world to some occupiers of some really bad real estate halfway around the world, to people that hate us to start with. I don't get it. Well, really I do, it just irks me to admit it. OK, I'm done for now.

I don't agree with any of it , if I want to do bodily harm to someone there are many ways to do it , leave our guns alone. Crazy folks exsist get over it . I would a lot rather the crazy man go on a rampage with an AR than pipe bombs, or poisoning people , take away guns and thats the kind of tactics crazy folks will use .. The media stirs up to much unnecsary bs over a few random shootings. Hang the sons of bitches on the town square and let the rednecks spit on em . If we all have guns the crazy ones want last long .
