I have a 17 year old cousin in Tennessee that wants to come and hunt with me in Alabama. It will only be a weekend hunt, so a three day license is $132. No problem with that. What I need to know is, even though he will be with me all the time, will he have to take the hunter safety course to get his license? If so, does Tennessee offer a safety course and if they do, will Alabama except it?
Of all the things I've ever lost, I think I miss my mind the most.

HE CAN GET A SUPERVISED LICENSE WHERE NO SAFETY COURSE IS NECESSARY

Hunting license buyers also have the option to hunt under the “supervision required” status in lieu of passing the hunter education course. Hunters under supervision MUST be under normal voice control, not to exceed 30 feet away from a properly licensed hunter 21 years of age or older. Under no circumstance shall the supervising person be the holder of a “supervision required” license

Thanks guy's. He's a good kid and I would love to be able to take him hunting with me. He has never deer hunted before and he will be with me in a blind. It would give me great pleasure to bloody his face after his first deer. If his plans haven't changed in the last 3 months, he is planning to go into the Army when he gets out of high school.

Just have him take it online and be done with it. Transfers from Alabama to TN. https://www.hunter-ed.com/alabama/

IDOT, checked this site and it says you have to be a resident of Alabama. But also checked and Tennessee offers the same course. Only difference is that Tn. requires a field day after completing the online course. So I guess I need to get him some more trigger time because he will have to prove he can shoot.
