I feel the opposite. I feel my wife should work. I don't care too much what she brings home. Our money is ours. However, she needs to appreciate the concept of contributing to the family finances. We have done it both ways and I can assure you she is happier working. So am I.

I wish I could afford it. We share the chores, but it would be nice to NOT wash clothes, NOT iron, NOT help clean the house. I'd love the leverage!!! Just work, come home, eat, and drink beer. I think I could deal with that.

We both have full time jobs. After having the kids it has put a lot of stress on our marriage because we both get up early and don't stop until the kids are in bed at 8 pm. My wife insists that our hose stay clean and hates to get behind on the laundry and that can be nearly impossible with young kids. She will be dropping to part time in the next few weeks. Although money will be a little tighter, I am positive that our family will be better off with her being home more.

Mine stays at home and id homeschooling our son. I don't think she should "have to" but grateful we're in the position where she can.

My wife is a stay at home mom. I'm self employed. Were not close to rich but we get by pretty good. I worked for tree services for 15 years climbing trees. Past 5 years I've been working for myself and make twice the money in half the time. Because of this my wife and I both get to spend alot of time at home and with our kids. We hardly ever have to ask anyone to babysit and they have never seen a daycare. My wife is a great mom, pretty much lives her life for the kids. If they need something, day or night, she is there. I told her when we had our oldest that if she got a job and put him in daycare, she would lose something she would never get back. We have been blessed with just the type of situation that fits us. I know this is not possible for everyone, and most do the best they can. However, my wife has heard alot of comments from other women about her " not working", like she's less than them somehow. I promise you she works, about 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. I love my wife being at home and love spending time with her an my kids. I wouldn't have it any other way. I guess you can call me an ole fogie, but I think the man should make the living and the woman should be at home with the kids. I know that's not popular these days, but I thank God for allowing us to live this way.

With 3 kids age 4, 2 , and 11 months my wife has just went from full time to part time. It has been stressful on out marriage these first 6 years with us both full time. I have a job that requires a lot of my time, so splitting up chores was doing us in day in and day out and we were falling behind. She finishes training next week in the Nicu and I cant wait for her to only work 6 days a month!

To answer the question, I think that my wife has to have some type of job/contribution other than just keeping the house right now for her sake, not mine. To each their own, ours may change one way or the other as the kids get older. Do what you can and is best for you and yours.

I wasn't sure about it at first but it has been a blessing. My wife has been there for not only my girls but has cared for our parents when they were sick and volunteers at church. I dont deserve salvation or my wife but by the grace of God I have both. She will also come on base and have lunch with me and bring the kids to work picnics; those things would not be likely if she was working. If she decides to work when they are out of the house then I'll support her, if not then I'll support that too.

I think my wife would go crazy if she had to stay here all day - as would I. We both have jobs, and I think that helps us in the long run.

Before the boys started kindergarten my wife stayed at home with them and I am glad she did. I worked 7 days a week and all kinds of crazy shifts I did miss out on somethings when the boys were young but I'm glad I was able to provide and give her the opportunity the chance to stay at home with them. Our thoughts was what's the point in her working just to pay for someone else to watch and teach the kids. Once the kids started kindergarten she started working part time and I started working a normal amount of hours. She has been full time for the past 3 years or so and things do get crazy around the house some weeks but the boys are old enough to help out with some chores around the house so that's a plus. Our house always has a lived in look and is hardly ever perfectly clean but it is presentable. We try to split chores around the house but with a 16 & 10 year old and their friends in and out there is no way the house would stay perfect for long.

The secret to a long marriage is to keep on dating, just as you did before marriage. We have "date night" once a week.
Hers is Saturday, mine is Thursday.

The only time a married woman gives those is if your not married to them!
