I was killing time in Hoover this morning waiting on Costco to open. I decided to check out the field and stream store. While in there, I tried on snake boots. I've owned both Danner and Rocky snake boots in the past, but I feel confident the Irish Setter Vaprtrek will outperform both. They feel good right out of the box; almost like wearing a sneaker. I didn't buy them on the spot as I didn't intend on buying boots today. Tonight, I searched online and found them at onlineshoes.com and used a 20% off coupon code which made them almost $25 less than anywhere else I looked online. After I ordered, it displayed a message asking me to email a friend $60 off a $120 purchase. Wish I would have had one of those when I ordered.

Thanks turkey_killer. I just ordered a pair myself from your recommendation. I was able to find a promo code SPLURGE which is 30% off any order over $149. It worked, saving me $64.49 bringing my total to $150.46. I too received a pop up at the end wanting me to provide a name and email of a friend for them to send a $60 off of a $120 or more purchase. I sent that to my wife but maybe the SPLURGE will work for someone else. This was the link. http://www.offers.com/exit/modal/offerid/3691223/

Okay y'all... I called the company tonight and (other than holding for about 20 minutes before someone answered) they seem to have good customer service.

1) They are going to credit me $21.50 for that extra 10% off I could have had with the 30% SPLURGE code instead of the 20% I used. Thanks JGatlin!

2) They will resend the $60 off $120 purchase to a friend (but only 1) so I need someone's name and email address. Ben2, pcamper, and hevishot I'm not sure if you can use both splurge and the 60 off 120 and, if not, if you get the Irish setters you'll be better off using splurge.

I wish y'all good luck with the Irish Setters. I bought a brand new pair of these, two years ago, and my feet would get wet, just walking thru wet grass. Another thing to consider, is that they don't handle their own warranty or returns; you have to go thru who you bought them from, or at least this is what Irish Setter told me. Macks Prairie Wings gave me a refund, so it all worked out.

I use to always wear lacrosse green rubber boots religiously until I got struck by a cotton mouth about years ago. Luckily it didn't go deep enough in to actually bite me but it did penetration the rubber. I've been wearing a pair of rocky zip ups ever since and I have no complaints

I've had 2 pair of Rocky rattler, the ones that were bass pro exclusives. They have been my favorites as far as comfort goes. Both have leaked early on walking through wet grass. I wore the first pair several years. The second pair doesn't seem to be holding up as well as the first as I bought it last year. Hopefully these vaprtreks will last a bit longer

I had a pair of the rattlers and they leaked in wet grass, also. Then the second year the entire bottom of the boot came off. POS. I've been wearing the pull on cabela boots, and i love them. Stood in creeks with them on, on my second year with them.

That has not been my experience; I sent back a pair of side zip snake boots that bought from STP direct to them when they started leaking. They never asked where they cam from or how old and sent me a pair of the new models. They would not zip past my calf; so they told me to pick something else of their website. They sent me a $150 pair of goretex chuckas; no charge. Very good customer service.
