I've just bought a Ruger Precision rifle (308)
I am thinking about putting a Burris Eliminator on it, I am needing feedback on this scope, before I make a buy.

A guy that hunts with us has one and likes it. He states it will range out to 1000 yards though he has not shoot it that far to see if it is correct that I am aware of

Only accurate rifles are interesting.

I'm hoping to get the gun to shoot accurantly up to 800yrds..
The hunting club I'm in you can set up over the fields or some of the food plots and shoot ip to 800+yrds
I think it would be neat to pick one off at this distance confidently

It is but I will tell you just because you buy that scope doesn't mean you will be able to hit one that far every time but its a good start. Next you will need to invest in a reloading set up.

I am unsure of the factory loads for shooting long range at this time as have reloaded for several years but when I started I tried Winchester, federal, and one other I cant remember and they wouldn't group for crap. I do hear the hornady match rounds are pretty good.

In all the long range competitions I have shot in I have never seen one of those scopes used that should tell you something. Buy a PST and a good rangefinder then learn to use it.
