That's really strange. I think that is one of Hal's very best load and it patterns well in almost anything. I've never had it pattern poorly in anything except that Yildiz with the eccentric chokes, and even it beat 150.

Are you drawing a 10 inch circle and shooting at that. Or are you paper shooting and drawing a 10 inch circle over the densest part of your pattern?
If it's the first option, then your pattern may be shooting low or high. You need to determine the densest part of your pattern and then adjust your aim point with different sights or whatever.

I use a Truglo .565 in my son's 1187 Compact. With a 1 5/16 oz load of 9s he got ~250/130 in the 10/20. Still trying to figure out where the other 90 or so pellets are going.

It's my 1st year loading tss and so far I'm getting awful patterns. Shooting it out of remington 11-87 compact. Have shot it out of carlsons extended .575 choke and factory full, best pattern is 150 in the 10. Same carlson choke puts 170 of federal heavyweight in 10. Anybody have a recommendation of another choke that might pattern better? Try a Remington Super Full(RSF).

I haven't seen anyone say anything bad about an IC .555 yet. Other than its too tight. I might have just missed it though. I put 356 pellets in a 10" circle at 41 yards yesterday. It's just right for me, but I'm shooting a franchi affinity so it may be totally different outta your gun. That's what I have in my 870 Compact Jr. It will do 230/150 with the same 1 5/16 oz load I mentioned earlier - and is still missing the same ~90 pellets.

Anybody have a recommendation of another choke that might pattern better? You're just too open pal. Some guns are like that for whatever reason and also for whatever reason...I haven't had a gun YET that will shoot a pattern worth a chit with either a flush or extended Carlson's choke. You're gonna have to choke it down some and use a ported, quality turkey choke most likely. Borrow somebody's IC .555 and try it before you try anything else. That cheapo .565 Tru-glo (Gobble Stopper - GSX) that wmd mentioned has also proven to be real consistent in the short Remington barrels too (what we use in my son's gun).

Yes, 1 5/16. If I did math right for #9 @ 360/oz it should be 472, right?
