I wouldn't think they'd eat it but I'm no trained biologist so what do I know.

Thomas Jefferson. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Life is too short to only hunt and fish on weekends!

Alabama deer will eat the snot out of hay....an Alfalfa hay product called Chaffaye. Comes in a 50# plastic bag, I get it from the co-op in Columbiana. Any deer will eat it and it's high protein. Feed it all the time on several properties.

They will eat Alfalfa hay but they waste a lot, Chaffaye is a much better product.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Fred, do you put it out? Do you have some sort of box or cage you put it in?

They'll eat the crap outta byhalia hay also.

In the winter we would supplement our pasture horses with Hay and the Deer would come right up to the back of the Hay Wagon and eat from it.

Hunt'em hard when they are hard to hunt but never, ever hardly hunt!

This quote got me thinking. I know absolutely ZERO about feeding alfalfa hay to deer. Come to think of it, the ONLY thing I put out for deer THAT IS NOT PLANTED is salt/mineral licks. I plant A LOT. Questions on feeding alfalfa:

1). Why? What are you trying to accomplish?
2). Is there not something else to reach your goal cheaper?
3). Cost vs. return? (As if he is ever a way to measure cost vs. return in hunting)

I still won't do it as long as I live in Alabama but just curious.
