I was awakened in the middle of the night with what I thought was a kidney stone. I had one 16 years ago and this felt the same. I finally decide to go ahead and go to the ER hoping to confirm that. When I got to the ER in Andalusia, they did blood work, urinalysis and the other basics. I was running a 99 something temp then. The doc took my temp again and it was 101 something and then it was taken again a little later and it was 102 something. The doc said he felt like I had a kidney infection but sent me to get a CT to see if there was also a stone.
It turns out that I have an infected stone (septic) (which I has never heard of before) and an infection behind it. My white blood cell count came back at 26,000. So, they are transferring me to Dothan because there is not an urologist available here today and the ER doc says that stone needs to come out ASAP. They have already started IV antibiotics and now I am just waiting on the transfer.
I am so glad I went ahead and came to the ER instead of waiting to see if I could pass it. The term septic has me a little freaked out, too.

Bless your heart. I watched my wife squirm in pain until she passed a stone not much bigger than a grain of sand. I can only imagine what that's like. Hope you get some relief soon.
