Anyone have any ideas how to break a hog dog from baying and killing possums he was a jam up bay dog and one night he got ahold of a possum and now he kills at least one possum every time we take him out

I know what I would do. I would find me a possum and let him have while applying pressure and telling him no. Turn up the pressure until he learns that ain't what he's supposed to get. When he no longer wants the possum cause of the pressure then praise him.

A shock collar would probably work. That's how they make dogs leave snakes alone. That seems to work really well.

That's the pressure Solo is talking about I think. He would need to be collar conditioned before using it.

Take a dead opossum and tie is really good to the dogs collar, so he cant reach it, but it won't fall off. Then make the dog carry it around until it rots off him. Its how we break dogs from killing chickens.

When I ran beagles, some showed interest in deer. I would walk right to where I saw a deer. When the dog showed interest I would bump them with the collar. Never said a word. Wasn't long before they seemed to associate the smell with a "tingle" and soon would have nothing to do with deer
