I'm not familiar with the area you are talking about, but TVA is known to put up gates around here. It is not a TVA gate. The road used to go to two more gates- a big steel TVA gate and also a gate to a farm that joins that public property. Now there is a red cattle gate at Hobbs Island Rd, blocking access to the steel TVA gate. I called the commissioners office and they can tell me absolutely nothing about the road and it identifies as "County Hwy-229" on my iPhone maps.

I hunt down there 2-3 nights a week I know a lot of folks tromp around what they think is public land on/near the Flint River and it's very much private property... some unknowingly, some just don't care. May be the source of the gate, I Know....
