Hey guys, I have taken a job teaching in Beauregard this year and since it is a little over an hour and half away from my house I am looking into renting something small, 1-2 bedrooms, to stay in during the week. I haven't been able to find a lot, mostly just students housing online. I thought some of you local fellas could point me in a good direction. I have never rented anything in my life so I really don't know where to start. Just HAS to be in a safe neighborhood. I start August 3 also so need it ASAP. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Like I don't even know how to go about doing that? Where do you find people wanting roommates?

My daughter goes to AU so she is up on all the student housing. She has lived and will be living again at The Connection. Nice, safe, gated complex that will match you up with a room mate if they anyone there needs one. Another nice thing too is that the room mates sign individual leases so if your roomie flunks out or quits, you are not stuck paying for the whole apartment yourself. It is on the safe side of Long leaf Drive. Avoid the other end of Long leaf. They built so many complexes out there, they couldn't rent them all and resorted to section 8 housing. That is where all the football players got shot.

Paging Ocidicilus (sp?). He'd be a member to really help you.

Nothing wrong with renting a trailer on Wire Rd. either. Ridgewood is the big trailer park to check into.

Kind of late in the game for that area, so good luck.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Can confirm West Longleaf should be avoided with the exception of where Odocoileus lives.
I was dozing off to sleep when the most recent murder happened in my parking lot.

I now live in a tiny apartment right next to campus. Cheap, close to campus, and furnished.

My girlfriend is moving out of the trailer she currently lives at on 8/10 I think it is.
It's across from the vet school, if you would like I could put you in touch with the owner/roommate.
The tiny 3rd bedroom isn't occupied so you could live in that for a week and then move into the larger bedroom.
Rent is $275 and utilities split I think.

Duplexes good, apartments bad, on that side of long leaf.

Jess, look at Zillow if the trailer above doesn't work out, also check craigslist. If I wasn't so far removed from my auburn days, I could help more, it was never hard to find something if you aren't picky. Housing is pretty cheap compared to Bham

Ridge wood, or Barrens are good trailer parks to stay in. I wouldn't stay in Opelika unless it's in the historical area. First realty is a company that leasing places in Auburn

My girlfriends landlord/roommate is dog friendly (has a golden) and she is very sweet.
If I was in your position I would be interested in it.
I imagine it's about a 20 minute drive into the Beuregard area.

Conway acres is another nicer trailer park on wire road, occasionally you can find something there. Usually something posted on the bulletin board at the jet pep on wire road.

If you haven't found anything yet I can reach out to some contacts in the area that might be able to help.

We use to have an explosives test range just south of Beuraguard and there was always a house or two out that way for rent.
