Is the high forecast for Rio on Friday - day of opening ceremonies for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Actually, there's not one single day forecast to touch 90 degrees during the entire summer olympics this year. Why? Because it's winter in Rio.

I realize the weather there is mild year round due to the latitude. However - does anybody else feel like the athletes should endure some real summer weather? Just seems odd to me.

I wish it was Rio here. 79 would be awesome. I'm sick of sweating all day, every day.

Truth be told, it doesn't often hit 90 in Rio even in the summer. There's not a lot of difference between summer and winter, there, other than nighttime lows. This time of year, it'll occasionally dip into the high or mid 50's.

Wonder how the humidity is. 79 with low humidity is mighty fine weather. 90 with low humidity is tolerable.

It's not bad. I was pretty much "comfortable" the whole 5 years I was down there. Now, if you get way farther north, like up around Bahia, it's HOT. And...if you get south, down around Sao Paulo or further, it's gets a lot cooler, but Rio was pretty comfortable all the time. Only thing about Rio is the favelas...they're nasty and they stink, and a lot of the people who live in them have absolutely no incentive to "Keep Rio Beautiful", if you will...They will dump anything anywhere!

I'm glad it's not like that in south Alabama. If it were, think of all the rich liberal sacks of donkey excrement that would move here from places such as Massachusetts. Kinda like all the libtard business owners who left California for more pro business places such as Austin, only to vote for and elect folks in Austin that want to make laws like the ones they left in California.
I'll just continue to sweat and be thankful that nobody wants to move here for the wonderful climate.

I miss decent weather a lot. I'm used to no one needing air conditioning or heat.

I absolutely despise the weather in this place. There are two seasons here - too damn hot and too damn cold. No spring or fall that I've seen, sometimes we'll get about a week of nice weather but then it's right back to godawful.

I'll let y'all know how it feels in a couple days. I'm heading down on Saturday, staying till Thursday. I get to go to a couple events, but we are spending most of the time doing mission work in the slum areas.

Have a good time and be careful, Jono...the favelas can be dangerous places.

The whole thing sounds like a disaster. I'm curious to see how the olympic area looks. I've heard terrible things so far.
