All the truck talk got me thinking about maintenance. I have a 2010 F-150 just rolled 100k miles. What type of maintenance do yall do? Outside of normal oil change and tire rotation. New plugs and wires, seafoam, etc.? Nothing wrong with it and I want to keep it that way.

I've thought about this too. Unless you do a lot of towing, I'm not planning on changing my 2004's tranny fluid. I just don't see the point, and Yota trannys last forever. At this point, if it's not broken, I'm probably not going to go out of my way to fix it.

I had an 04 Silverado that made it to 247,000 before I sold it a couple years ago. I had the tranny rebuilt at around 175,000.

Prior to replacing it I asked my mechanic about flushing the transmission fluid and he told me that since I had never done that before he wouldn't recommend doing it.

The only routine maintenance I did was oil changes...I wouldn't go a mile over before changing it.

I agree not changing the tranny or diff fluid. The Ford manual actually says that its a "lifetime fluid" under normal operating conditions and does not need changing.

I am leaning towards if it aint broke...

A mile over what ? 3,000? I routinely go 6-7,000 miles and most things I read say that's probably fine. 3,000 seems crazy to me.

3000 miles is a racket. I usually 4500-5000 and just make sure I check the oil level periodically to make sure it doesn't get low (mine doesn't leak or use much oil so I rarely have to add to it). If you're running full synthetic, then you can realistically go much longer.

4,000 mile oil changes, keeping adequate air in the tires, new air filter every 50k. 270,000 miles on a 1998 Toyota Tacoma. The engine still runs flawlessly. The only major expense in 18 years has been a drive shaft ($650) and that was this year.

Next truck will be another Yota.

Change oil every 4K, never have tranny flush! Only change tranny fluid by drain and refill every 100K. Air and fuel filter every 30K. Rotate tires every 6K. Coolant flush and/or drain and refill only when it starts to get weak, usually around 100K.
Cheap insurance for a long lasting truck/car.

Yes, a mile over 3,000. It's probably is fine to go 6-7,000 without one...I am not saying that you can't get 250k mi from doing it 6-7,000. I was telling my experience.

on my old truck I had the trans fluid changed at 75k miles and just the regular maintenance as everyone else has suggested.

Manual on my truck says 7500 between oil changes. The gas burners get them at 5000.
