What is it doing when you turn the key? Click click? Cranking but no starting? Or nothing?

Does it have the alarm system in it?

It could be the ignition pin actuator inside the key cylinder. They can break, does the key Feel sloppy when you turn it?

Not a jeep, but I just went thru an ignition problem on a Nissan.

First thing, you should get a spark tester. Test from distributor if no, go to coil. If no fire from coil test signals from ECM. I assume you checked codes is reason for changing Crank PS.

Do you have injector pulse and does the check eng. light come with the key on. If not most likely the pcm .

Check engine light does come on when u turn the switch, noticed it on last night. I was told by everyone to change the Crankshaft position sensor for a Jeep not firing, wasn't the prob. I pulled the center wire on the distributor last night (coming from the coil?) & had my daughter turn the engine over while checking for spark with a screw driver held close to the wire, no spark? Change the coil now? Thx, Robinhedd

Since you ruled out crank positon sensor. Here is forum help on your issue that you may find useful.

http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/1998-jeep-cherokee-has-ignition-system-problem-14613/

Under #5 spark plug is a bunch of grounds to check, will cause this issue.

Make sure ignition fuse is good.

If fuel pump is not coming on it will cause a no spark issue.

We've been having the same problem with a cursed pt cruiser for a year now. Been working on it off and on. We were out of options until we ordered a new computer for it. Runs fine now. We changed every sensor on it too.

Had the same thing happen to a Wrangler I had. Look under the hood and find the "start" relay. Swap it with any other relay in that box and see what happens. All of those relays are the same. Its worth a shot and a cheap fix.
