My favorite for general use is 16-18x48 as a do-all duck boat. They seem to be the best size to be able to navigate shallow but still not get iffy in some waves and wind. There will be times when you wish you had a 15/42 and others when you had an 18/60.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

I would love to have a 17x50 Gatortrax with a Mud Buddy motor.
83% of all statistics are made up.

I would love to have a 17x50 Gatortrax with a Mud Buddy motor. Mud buddy are crap. Go either gatortail or prodrive. Mud buddy aren't reliable at all. All my buddies that had thenough black death 5500 all have either prodrive or gatortail now. GatorTrax is a nice boat though.

GatorTrax is a nice boat though. ain't trying to argue but pro drives and gatortail motors are full of problems too. I hear constantly of them tearing up. I would rather have a mud buddy hands down over a pro drive . Pro drive's design is just stupid, take something simple and over complicate the hell out of it. The reverse procedure is a joke. And running a "lower unit" with oil on a surface drive? Just stupid. Gator tail motors are a better design but whats new and different about it? Nothing. Same thing mud buddy has done forever. Why buy a copy cat? Tons of people run mud buddies and love em. Up here where I live on the Tennessee river, you won't see much of anything else.

I don't duck hunt (though I'd love to) but if I were buying an all-purpose hunting boat, It'd be a 1654 mod-V with the biggest HP outboard it was rated for.

Yea pro drive reverse junk. I'm on mmt, and there's threads on there all the time about reverse sticking, lower units cracking, all that kind of stuff. But I guess people overlook that. But if mud buddy motors are such pos then why are so many people running them? Too stupid to trade em for pro drives? And I don't own a mud buddy. Never have. And yes there are quite a few people from Louisiana on mud motor talk running mud buddy's. If their so bad why haven't they traded for something else, seeing as how all the major brands are made there. And I'm pretty positive if someone offered a free boat with a mud buddy you be in line lol. There are problems with every single one. The majority ofor people don't own mb because they are a pos. Made you ought to spend a little more time researching stuff or actually own one for yourself. Mercury, Yamaha, and evinrude have lower units crack. Just because you see one thread about a lower unit cracking doesn't mean everyone does. Theread are countless threads about mb valves not seating and heads cracking. I think that is in itself is more evidence that the mb sucks. I'm sorry you feel that having full power reverse is an issue. I guess you haven't ever hunted the swamps and mud where having full power reverse is a blessing. Most of mMt is made up of people from Louisiana and not many of them have mudbuddy. Matter of fact most people on the sight down mudbuddy because they are such a pos.

Lol are you listening to yourself dude? Yea they're problems with EVERY One of them. But youre blowing off all the pro drive, go devil, gator tail, Dixie, and all the rest that have problems. Your focused on mud buddy. Heads cracking and valves not seating? Hmmm. So briggs and Stratton, and kohlers problems are mud buddy's problem? THEY ALL USE THEY SAME MOTORS. Honda, Briggs, kohler, Kawasaki. Mud buddy trim is made by Mercury. So maybe you should make an argument that actually holds water instead of just saying they suck. And show me stats where mud buddys "tear up so much more than anything else"? You don't have a clue. Even if that was the case, it would be because simple logic says they're more of them sold and in use, so by default yea they would tear up more. And for your information, I do own a mud motor and have hunted all the places that your so called reverse shines in and I've never once had a single problem. I hunt greentree management area, raccoon creek, mud creek, all up and down this river from top to bottom. Swamps, mud, creeks, across beaver dams into flooded timber. There's lots of people that have problems with pro drives reverse sticking. Probably the same amount that have heads cracked too huh? The point is, they all have problems but to make such a factless statement is pure silly. So instead if telling someone they need to do more research, maybe you should.

So me where more mudbuddy are sold? Tell me why no one in the marsh hardly runs them at all? I hate go devil too. I haven't stated anything but factual data that I have seen first hand. Still waiting for you to show me all these stats on prodrive reverse issues. Bring that mudbuddy to Louisiana where I hunt and and we will see just how well the mudbuddy without fpr does. I get it....your a mudbuddy fanboy. That's cool...no shame in that. Do they trash something you have no experience with though. I was simply trying to help you out and you got but hurt bcuz I said something negative about mudbuddy. Yea they all are Briggs engines...but do you know why mb has the black death 4500 and 5500 and so on? They change things. I'm not getting in a pissing match with you here. I've seen first hand mb break time and time again. I have seen FEW pd or gt have near the issues as your beloved mb. Excuse me for trying to help you out.
