I went to do some scouting for bow season the other day and found most of the gates closed. Do they ever get opened? The spots I want to look at are about a 1.5 miles past the gates. I've called the office several times with no answer. Guess I gotta hoof it but it's too hot for that right now.

"Hoofin It" is correct, more than likely the gate will be closed year round.

All the gates are supposed to be open unless they are finishing road work or culvert work and need no traffic on them for a short time.

There are also some boundary gates on the Miller Tract and off CR 79 that are closed to control access off the place not into it - those areas can all be accessed by coming in from the interior of the area.

I'm up there almost weekly - on what roads that you wanted to access were gates closed?

Thanks for the replies. I was trying to enter on the highway 51 side (miller) Almost every gate was closed on that side. There were a couple places I could drive in but not go far. I guess I need to find out where to enter and go from there. My lease is on pleasant hill road. Can I access from over that way?

You can't access from 51 or from Oak Grove Road - not supposed to anyway and they frown on driving around gates - ticket every time.

Pleasant Hill Road - are you talking about CR 47 that runs up by the nature center all the way out to 51 just south of Midway?

Are you accessing your lease off that very most northern road on the Miller Tract that runs along the boundary and then turns NE off the state into private property?

If your lease runs out to Pleasant Hill Rd (CR 47) you should be able to get in on that side a lot easier - assuming you aren't crossing state property to get to it.

Thanks for the info. My lease is on CR 47. Its actually across the road from Forever Wild on CR 47. I will check out those entrances on that road. Was it crowded on opening weekend? When I went to scout off of 51, there weren't any trucks parked over there.
