I may have picked up some acreage to hunt in Blount County near Oneonta. I know nothing about this area, so when does the rut run in that area?

I live in Blount County in between Hayden and Cleveland. I really haven't figured it out yet either. This will only be my second year hunting this area. I am glad you asked this. My neighbor killed a 9 point last year chasing a doe towards the end of December.

I hunt blount county and i believe at different times. End of December through february-march. Just before bow season opened, i saw a mama and set of twins in the road. The twins were vuhJJ fresh.. not 2 miles down the road, i see another mama with twins and they already lost their spots

One property I hunt near nectar is end of December and another around limestone springs is always the end of January.

Born and raised in Blount county. I hunt three ends of the county. It's never consistent. I got some land that has fawns with no spots and same camera will show some very young fawns.

Just be in the woods after Christmas.

I hunted a farm near Blounstville in the late 90's and no one knew then either. I bet Blount county has got some weird genetics.

Be sure you're hunting from the day after Christmas on. Could be any time of day too. Got a friend who hunts around highland lake that swears the bucks rut on his place late Nov to early Dec. I can tell you for certain, two miles above nectar, its from Christmas on. Could go on through the end of season. However, I killed a doe in January about 20 years ago with an almost ready fawn in her. No idea how that happened.

I hunt 2 different tracts right outside of oneonta towards Snead and didn't see scrapes until the first week of February. Bucks started chasing on cameras then also. Have hunted here 3 years now and haven't seen chasing yet

One of the biggest bucks I've seen in Blount county was chasing does in a hay field on spring break. I believe Brent had pictures of it.

Me too. Every year for the past 3 years I've watched spikes and 2 year olds push does around somewhere around 40 mph.

Year before last I went rabbit hunting at the club and saw several large racked bucks chasing does on 2/7.

Guess we'll see this year.

I just started hunting land around Susan Moore in Blount county this year. Had some picks of a fawn with spots this weekend with 2 does. I had cameras out last year and only saw bucks on them from January and later.

I had a lease in Blount Co on highway 79 about 10 miles south of Guntersville from 2012 until last season. Rut was consistently Christmas into the second week of Jan. Last year it was way off, I'm assuming it was due to the crazy hot weather, but I'm not sure. Rut lasted the entire month of January last season, but there was no peak. 5 miles away on 79 towards Guntersville, we have family land that we hunt. Rut is always very late Jan into Feb, and like I said, only 5 miles away. Makes no sense.
