Nor do I care to hunt days without seeing deer. I know if you put enough time in, that may not be the case, but my hat is off to those going out there hiking in miles and miles to hunt a deer. I hope y'all all kill 200"ers! wink

This deer was 75 yards from the truck....
he was 1.5 miles in

I'm from the area and Bankhead is pretty much all I hunt. I'm really dreading the orange army that I fear will be here the rest of this season and years to come.

All I would like to say is unless you're the luckiest guy in the world or you have some serious time you want to invest in the place, leave it for us locals. If you're just coming for a weekend hunt once a year, most likely you're wasting your time.

With that being said, it's a free country and you're welcome to do what you want. grin

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I just saw a picture of another giant Bankhead buck this morning. This one is a 12 point with incredible tine length. Someone better than me at posting pictures can hopefully find it and post it for everyone to see. It was on a facebook page called Alabama Whitetails.

I seen the pic and it looks like it's a mount. It might have been killed in Bankhead but not this year.

one of the most unintelligent posts ever on AlDeer.

Bankhead has been producing monster bucks for at least 50 years, long as I have been deer hunting. It has never had a high density population.

There were virtually no deer in that area when it was stocked with Michigan deer in the 40's. The Michigan deer have pretty much remained where they were stocked, and stayed pretty pure genetically, which is why that area still produces big deer.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

You know... I was out there Duck Hunting on Guntersville bout 15 years ago and I thought to myself...

The internet is going to ruin duck hunting. People keep posting pictures of Canvasbacks and piles of ducks we've been killing for YEARS up here and they'll quit driving past it headed west.

5 years later there were more truck tags at the boat ramp from as far away as Illinois. Mostly GA (ATL area) South Carolina, North Carolina and East TN. And a LOT from S. Alabama.

You guys are screwed in my opinion.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Grew up in that area. Word was half the Michigan deer did not survive the summers wether it was heat or EHD. Like I said. It's good to see them thriving. Hunted with a bunch of seasoned hunters that wouldn't waste a minute in Bankhead and drive to Winston Co. to hunt.
