Need a high powered (atleast a 12 power) scope for long range(300 yards) field gun. Any suggestions?

Why do you need a 12 power for 300 yards? That isn't that far.

I've got scopes ranging from 9x 25x on the high end. Most stay on the lowest power setting lol. Shot a hog and a doe last week with both on the lowest power.

I used to feel the same way but I'm gradually changing my stance on it. Slowly though. What's your budget?

I always shoot mine at the maximum power setting. Leupold VX3i 4.5-14x40 or 50 should do you well.

Vortex is releasing their next generation of PST scopes this spring. If you can wait, I'd highly suggest the 2.5-10x. Unless you have high quality binoculars, you won't notice the loss of 2x. You'll really appreciate having the 2.5x on the low end.

I just left Simmons with a 3.5-18x44 Swarovski Z5. More power than I needed but I think I will be happy with it. I didnt know they were having an anniversary sale

Good choice. And before you get shot down for having a nice scope with high zoom. You'd definitely rather have too much than too little. I like it.

Look at marks for demo Scopes. I bought a meopta 6x18x50 for around 500. Don't cheat yourself on a 300 scope then not be satisfied and eventually buy one that works great. The Meopta is clear and I can hunt well past legal hours. It's not a Night force by far but for the money I'm highly satisfied.

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

1199 plus tax and she is mine. They said all Swarovski are on sale due to 25th anniversary I think is what he said. Some of them up to $600 off if I remember correctly. I was looking at a Vortex til I saw the one I got for same amount of money basically

I called yesterday and talked to them. The 3-15x44 pst is out and ready for purchase. It is a little over $1000 though. There are options on this site for vortex the 4-16x50 for under $600. Pst too
