Some places there may be 50 spots to hunt at one gate. Find one and share with your fellow hunters. They may help drag a deer out.
Guy should have made a sound and waved at you. May just needed a laugh watching to see if you seen him.

I love the fact that many bowhunters think that the WMA system should be their own private hunting club.......

NOT!!

He may have been napping waiting on sunrise and overslept. I'll admit I've done it. Some of the best naps of my life were in a climber.

He should of notified you in some way. I usually wave my hat and if that doesn't work "HOOT OWL". Some guys are just ass hats and I've had to move once I'm there and settled in a tree. That's the big problem with public land.

One time in Hollins WMA I was walked up on by two guys.. not once.. but twice.. Same guys.. I finally moved. I couldn't believe it.

It is odd that he didn't make his presence known earlier, I think that this one is on him. I think it is pretty clear you did not intentionally walk up on the guy.

Sometimes deer hunters seem to not understand the public part of public land. Well said Hogwild...

I like the nap theory, it would take away the guess work as to why he was willing to risk a .22 sized hole or some number 7 shot by not letting us know he was there. Guys in a stand aren't wearing orange and if you're tracking a tree rat through a scope you may very well miss the well camoed guy in the stand.

wma. walking in on- or getting walked in on is part of it. whistling, waving, whatever you need to do to communicate. but getting mad at the other guy is horsesh$t. what's bad is when one party becomes inconsiderate. first come first serve. having grown up on barbour means i coukd talk about thi s all day

Buddy of mine told me a story about a place he hunted in Texas. This area only had one good tree in it that they kept a corn feeder placed about 30 yds in front. He said he got out there early one morning and climbed the tree and not long later his neighbor or buddy can't remember which came in behind and started climbing. Well my buddy didn't say anything and let him climb and get all set up. He waited for it to get day light then leaned over and asked the dude if he seen anything yet. My buddy said poor old boy bought fell out of his stand. Lol. I think he said they actually stuck an old doe that day. If you knew this old boy you would believe he would try something like that just for a good laugh.
