I have been hunting a certain spot over the past two weeks. I have been seeing several deer, but nothing I want to shoot. I'm particular and it's too much work where I hunt to not kill anything that I would put on the wall. I don't care about shooting a doe either. All I do is bow hunt. Yesterday afternoon while hunting, I heard something walking fairly close to me, but never saw anything. Every time I have been to this spot, I have seen deer. After about 15 minutes, I heard something that I will never forget. It was loud, very loud. It was a screeching scream sound and lasted for about 30 seconds on and off. After coming home and doing research on the sound, I have determined it was a Mountain Lion. Have y'all ever seen one while hunting? I never saw a deer. I've heard several strange sounds in my life while hunting, but never this sound. It raised the hairs on my arms. Definitely something I will never forget, especially hunting alone and no cell service.

It was a black painter!

I don't want to pass quietly into the night. I want to slide in sideways kickin and screamin

I came upon a sand hill crane the other day right on the AL/TN line. I was walking a creek back to my ATV. First time I have seen one in the mountains on the ground. Let me tell you what, if it would have been before daylight. I would have shat on myself. I must have spooked it when I walked up on it. It made some wild noises as it was going up the side of the mountain.

Deer can make some pretty weird sounds too...

I had a deer make a "screeching" noise at me.

I have listened to several different audio clips online and there is no doubt it was a Mountain Lion. It's a distinguished sound. I'm going back this week to look for tracks. There has to be some somewhere.

Got a friend who works for the usgs, he checks waterways for a living. He sees a lot of tracks. And he's an outdoorsman type, no rookie to the outside.

There are big cats, somewhere, in Alabama. I believe you.

You gotta be careful talking like that or folks will thinks you are nuts. loco

Back in the 70's hunting around Florette we found cougar tracks on several occasions in snow, mud and dirt. Hunting the backside of Skyline in Madison Co. Around High Top in the 80's we saw one while shining at night and two daylight sightings over the next ten years or so. That area with hundreds of thousands of acres of pure wilderness is perfect habitat for those felines. We also saw a black bear, but folks said we were crazy, ain't no bears in Alabama! Good hunting. Hope that big one crosses path's with you. And of course, be safe. Those mountains don't cut anyone any slack.

I've killed a couple of the spotted cats on skyline, but I've got a story I've never told anyone. I don't know how to describe what happened other than it was an attack of some sort just before dawn. The beasts of hell came loose that morning.

I also personally witnessed an adult bald eagle attempt to snatch a fawn on Skyline. I believe another member or two saw the same thing on the same big plot after me.

I couldn't say what I heard or what happened that morning, some things just can't be explained.
