Congrats young man and you too dad! My son's first solo hunt and kill was pretty funny. I took him to his stand on the side of the mountain and after I got him settled in I went to my stand not too far away but out of sight of his.About 7:30 am I heard a shot from his way. This was before cell phones but we both had small walkies-talkies. I waited a few minutes for another shot but dead silence. Couldn't stand it so I mashed the button and said: you get it ? yep, buck or doe ? buck, you still see it ? yep, want me to come over ? nope, so I sat there about another hour to hour and half before I couldn't stand it and got down and went that way. I called him and said is it far from your stand ? nope. When I got to his stand the deer , a 6 pt was leaning against his tree ! He had shot it directly under his tree between the shoulder blades, for a spine shot ! smile crazy

That's what it's all about! Well done young man! And big congrats to you Dad for trusting him to go it alone! That's something he will never forget.

ive never seen a shotgun with a barrel like that. I bet it would throw a slug a LONG way.

Great picture, and a memory that will last forever.

Dont forget to record it on his sheet and call the stupid gamecheck people, I would hate for his next hunting memory to be one about a ticket.

Yes the barrel is freakishly long compared to today's shotguns. I put 3o on the original post , it is actually 32" and full choke. I know you can kill a squirrel at nearly 80 steps and it's almost like stealing to show up at a turkey shoot with it. Thanks for all the comments and good luck to y'all in the final days of this season.
