anyone know anything about these engines as far as reliability go? looking at F150's and found an '11 platinum in my price range that has the 6.2. Trying to find any info I can. Most forum posts I've read say they seem to be pretty reliable, but most of those posts were around the '11/12 years, from posters with < 20k miles on their trucks.

Anyone?

everything I`ve seen and read says theyre more reliable than the 5.0 and ecopoot. I also have been eyeballing the 6.2 in the ford and chevy 1/2 ton. I`m wondering what true mpg is

My neighbor has one. Been extremely reliable, but it sure is thirsty. Gets about 13mpg.

If you pull stuff often and don't was the diesel maintenence then I'd say go for it. I've got the 5.4 with 210k miles and going strong.

I have heard they are a great motor except for the fuel mileage.

Fuel mileage is about the least of my concerns. I've been getting 12mpg for 14 years now, and gas is cheaper than it's been in several years.

The particular truck I was referencing isn't going to work. After digging in the carfax I found it's got 2 accidents in its history, plus it's a FL car, so that's a no-go.

Doesn't say. Just says "rear end collision" and "Left side collision". 2 separate occasions.

I have a 13 with the 6.2 and it is a great motor very reliable. Plenty of power for towing and decent gas mileage. I have around 70,000 miles and not the first issue.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

Gomer, even though you might be changing your mind on this particular Ford go to Ford Truck Enthusiast Forum and ask any questions that you may have. I've found this site to be very helpful. Good luck on finding you a truck.
