Looks like things are getting serious. Wikileaks just dropped a bomb. It looks like Obama was spying on everybody and maybe doing some other more serious things. Ya'll can check the headlines on Drudge.

No doubt. Their press release reads like the script to an episode of the Blacklist. The scariest part to me is that once this technology is created there is really nothing keeping it from being stolen and distributed to the masses. https://wikileaks.org/ciav7p1/

"CIA malware targets iPhone, Android, smart TVs
CIA malware and hacking tools are built by EDG (Engineering Development Group), a software development group within CCI (Center for Cyber Intelligence), a department belonging to the CIA's DDI (Directorate for Digital Innovation). The DDI is one of the five major directorates of the CIA (see this organizational chart of the CIA for more details).
The EDG is responsible for the development, testing and operational support of all backdoors, exploits, malicious payloads, trojans, viruses and any other kind of malware used by the CIA in its covert operations world-wide.
The increasing sophistication of surveillance techniques has drawn comparisons with George Orwell's 1984, but "Weeping Angel", developed by the CIA's Embedded Devices Branch (EDB), which infests smart TVs, transforming them into covert microphones, is surely its most emblematic realization.
The attack against Samsung smart TVs was developed in cooperation with the United Kingdom's MI5/BTSS. After infestation, Weeping Angel places the target TV in a 'Fake-Off' mode, so that the owner falsely believes the TV is off when it is on. In 'Fake-Off' mode the TV operates as a bug, recording conversations in the room and sending them over the Internet to a covert CIA server.
As of October 2014 the CIA was also looking at infecting the vehicle control systems used by modern cars and trucks. The purpose of such control is not specified, but it would permit the CIA to engage in nearly undetectable assassinations.
The CIA's Mobile Devices Branch (MDB) developed numerous attacks to remotely hack and control popular smart phones. Infected phones can be instructed to send the CIA the user's geolocation, audio and text communications as well as covertly activate the phone's camera and microphone.
Despite iPhone's minority share (14.5%) of the global smart phone market in 2016, a specialized unit in the CIA's Mobile Development Branch produces malware to infest, control and exfiltrate data from iPhones and other Apple products running iOS, such as iPads. CIA's arsenal includes numerous local and remote "zero days" developed by CIA or obtained from GCHQ, NSA, FBI or purchased from cyber arms contractors such as Baitshop. The disproportionate focus on iOS may be explained by the popularity of the iPhone among social, political, diplomatic and business elites.
A similar unit targets Google's Android which is used to run the majority of the world's smart phones (~85%) including Samsung, HTC and Sony. 1.15 billion Android powered phones were sold last year. "Year Zero" shows that as of 2016 the CIA had 24 "weaponized" Android "zero days" which it has developed itself and obtained from GCHQ, NSA and cyber arms contractors.
These techniques permit the CIA to bypass the encryption of WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, Wiebo, Confide and Cloackman by hacking the "smart" phones that they run on and collecting audio and message traffic before encryption is applied."Source: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-03-07/wikileaks-hold-press-conference-vault-7-release-8am-eastern WOW!

Like I said in a previous thread, there might be some BS hearings, press conferences, flip us the bird, and we'll kick the can down the side walk like we always do.

Without understanding all the technical stuff, the bottom line for me, is that their is no such thing as true privacy anymore. If you don't want to risk the whole world being able to know what you don't want known, you'd just be better off not doing it.
There may still be legal, court recognized privacy, but it is not true privacy.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

"Circle the wagons' I don't know if I should be confused or just say "what the hell". This morning Gen Hayden(retired CIA director) was on Fox. I'm really disappointed at the Fox guy doing the interview for not asking aggressive questions. The Gen stated there is no need for a TRAVEL BAN or strict Vetting. He went on to say both make conditions worse for our Country. I would have ask him how his flight from MARS was. really General, have you seen the effect allowing Syrian refugees have had on Europe? Why sir do were need Syrians in our country? Are you a MUSLIM? Am I wrong? He continued to say Obama could not have wiretapped or directed a wiretap. Really? We have seen continuous wire tap allegations against Trump in the liberal media. Were they lies? No matter what the talking heads say, TRUMP Towers has been wiretapped and the proof is evident. Gen Flynn was tapped while at Trump Towers. There are transcripts of his conversation. All the safeguards to protect American Citizens were ignored. There is evidence Trumps White House has Liberal leakers in it. Sooner or later this will Come out. Hayden also said nothing will be proved at the hearings. really? Maybe he knows trump is innocent and you can't prove him guilty. It just looks like the CIA is circling the wagons to protect the leakers.

They won't do anything to him. No one goes after the previous administration. They just don't. Lot of chest-beating and ruffling huffing-puffing and then it goes away, because other skeletons get brought to light. Politics as usual.

No, they won't do anything to Obama. He's insulated with things like this...as any president is. I would like to see this be the catalyst of having more oversight, but I doubt any thing in terms of criminal charges come of it. I think there's a decent chance at the oversight because we have long been concerned about the government overstepping in this area. To see it materialized and out there will certainly create the outrage to get something done. Whether it will or not remains to be seen. The funniest revelation with these leaks is the ability of the CIA to commit acts and essentially frame other countries...like Russia.

have any of yall watched the snowden movie. It talks about all this stuff happening. Nothing was done then and nothing will be done now. You may be right. But, that was a different president and a lot of signs point to him liking the hell out of those surveillance programs. Since a now sitting president has been affected by those loose restrictions on surveilling, we might see a little more oversight.

The NSA, CIA, etc. have all grown too large and too powerful for the a long time now. Probably at least the last 20 years overlapping several presidential administrations.
They all need to be reeled in and their budgets cut 15% right now.
And then another 15%.
They should NEVER have the right, power or authority to tap anyone's phone or steal/access email etc. without a properly obtained 4th Amendment compliant search warrant.
AND, really, and I say this is a staunch conservative who is serious about national security and national defense, do we have to spy on allies? And every Tom, Dick and Harry country?
Seriously, the national security spy/intelligence agencies and apparatus should be focused on (1) nuclear/chemical/biological terrorism and (2) other "regular" terrorism;(3) catching Russian and Chinese and other cyber THIEVES so that we have the evidence to hold them accountable with big fat federal lawsuits that result in seizure of their assets to compensate the victims of their crimes (plus double for treble/punitive damages); (4) combatting international organized crime particularly human trafficking;(5) necessary operations pertaining to true enemy or adversary countries.
I am sure there are a few more legit areas but it really seems to be that our intelligence agencies are involved in far more than they should, abuse their power, and have gotten way off track.
Time to REFORM the NSA, CIA, DIA, etc.
They don't need $50 Billion a year to do the legitimate aspects of their job.
