This is a good option, do not use a ramp the safe can break the ramp. Do not go up or down wooden steps they can break as well.

I had to pay to have safe (Libert 50 also) moved into the house. Made the mistake of transporting it from where I bought it to my house laying flat on my trailer. We couldn't get it stood up.

The lock company that moved it had impressive tools. basically jacks on wheels that they could lift under the corners.

was well worth the money. Didn't tear up the safe or any of my doors, thresholds or baseboards.

I just helped moved a liberty colonial 50 about a month ago. We was moving it out of a house onto a trailer. Slid it on the carpet till we got to the hardwood floors. Then put a piece of carpet upside down and wiggled the safe onto it. Pulled/pushed it to the front door then used a heavy duty appliance dolly. Rolled it out down the sidewalk and up on the gate of the trailer. Strapped it down and was gone. It was tough, but not that bad. 3 of us moved it to the door, then used a 4th at the dolly. One guy sat around and watched.

Anyone who has not seen a safe loaded and unloaded by Daryl or Nancy at Southland Safes needs to go take a lesson. When I bought mine, that was my biggest concern. How the heck do I get that thing out and into the house?

We loaded and unloaded my Browning Beast (770lb) in the bed of my 250 with ease. I would highly recommend laying it in the bed of the truck rather than on a trailer. Physics is your friend. Of course the forklift got it to the tailgate and gently eased it up onto its back, in the box, on a quilt. At the house, we were able to slide it out, just me and my brother in law. There is a point where the safe will ever so slightly angle off the tailgate and you can gently ease it down onto heavy duty furniture dollys. From there, rolled it to the basement door threshold and onto a piece of plywood, through the door frame and on into position. Literally a piece of cake.

Whatever method you choose, good luck!

If there's any doubt, then there is no doubt... The gut don't never lie.

I've moved 7 of them, so I know just enough to be dangerous. the tipping onto truck/trailer and off of the truck/trailer is where I always feel like someone could die. A lot of momentum with 700-1000 pounds tipping. I used dolly's once we got it on the flat surface.

After all these moves, I'd hire motivated movers.

No joke... a mover in my neighborhood died when a gun safe fell on him. Saw the police tape in the yard as I drove past and later read the police report.

The easiest way to move them in a appliance dolly and a tilt trailer.

The higher off the ground you ever get it the more dangerous.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

BEADSCUM, there have been several guys here that had their stuff moved by Ben. NOT ONE has had any complaints. Since it wasn't your stuff and you weren't there how about not saying anything SLANDEROUS and unsubstantiated about one of the nicest guys on this site. If you said buddy had a problem, why didn't he contact BEN? It's just stupid to make unprovable claims like that and him thinking they were trying to see the combination could be HIS paranoia. If you had ever run a business you wouldn't know the problems hiring personnel. Maybe we can get some more new members so you can attack them for asking questions like you have in the past and stop saying useless crap about a good member. SMFH

I moved mine through my house on a piece of carpet, sliding it on the hardwood. That was the easy part. I used an set of real appliance hand trucks, borrowed from an appliance store to get it off the truck. I had it ratchet strapped to the hand trucks. The weight of it almost broke my forearms when I pulled the safe over to roll it.

He was happy with everything except for the fact that one of the employees looking over his shoulder while he was trying to get the safe unlocked

Was it new to him Beatlescomb? Did he buy at Mark's or Woods and Water? Was it an electric lock or combo lock? We get tons of people who can't open combo locks and the guys have to watch and often times even open them for the customers. That's the number 1 thing we hear on combo safes, "I can't get it open". We wish all safes were electronic they are easy easy to operate and change the combo on. It costs about $500 to swap from a combo to electronic one out though. Regardless I do not mind negative feedback it helps us better our service. However none of the men that work for me are dirt legs whatever that means so please don't call them that unless you know they are my employees. Send me the pm and I will look into which location it was. Thanks

I'll call Southland Safes to move mine to my next house. Great people to do business with and its worth the money to have a professional move it in my opinion.

I'm too old and it ain't worth trying to do it myself anymore. I'd pay a pro to do it.

First give me all your guns so you can lighten the load. I'm sure you need new ones anyway. You can use pieces of cast iron pipe as rollers as they won't crush like pvc and are better than golf balls. Getting off/on truck/trailer is the hard part. smile

I found an eager moving service on craigslist. After checking them out via their website and facebook page, I contacted them. They willingly took the job and only charged $100 bucks.

I helped about 4 other guys wrestle with a neighbor's safe once. Someone broke out some of those furniture sliders which totally changed the game for the better. They are cheap and do wonders. I left sliders under mine in case I need to slide it around.
