When I spray anything at the bottom of the powerhead. On second thought, it's probably a Johnson. Should be the same - not sure.

Is there any way to replace the lower crank seal on these without being a major pain in the behind?

Before anyone asks me to go out and fiddle with it - I am on the other side of the state and have no access to this boat motor.

Background - It has been in salt water and many of the bolts on it have been difficult to get out. Has had a lean sneeze and won't idle right since I got it but I have not messed with it much. It runs all day at 1/2 or more throttle. I have rebuilt all carbs and the lower cylinders plugs look like a lean condition (we already knew this from the sneezing). I am about ready to just replace it and call it a day.

I love the rut. The woods are like a bunch of roided up meatheads fighting over a girl.

I wonder if I can bend the choke actuator rod to where the lower carb gets choked more than the upper? Or just put something in the opening that will stay.

If I have to guess, that powerhead is not coming off without tearing something up.

I wouldn't run it hard until it's fixed, running lean will kill a 2 stroke.

Previous owner claims it's been doing it for two years and he's been using it the whole time. Funny to watch him - he cranks it with the throttle open 1/2 way, revs the living snot out of it, let's it idle down to about 1400 for 1/1354654654th of a second, slams it in gear and jams the throttle to the firewall. Runs fine that way until time to stop where he pulls back to neutral and walks away to put down the trolling motor.

oh my feeling aren't hurt in the least. While you say no one disagreed, several posts were made that contradicted the post I made. Nevertheless, it's all good, I don't need the approval or gratification of anyone on here. People on here will no doubt continue to run off the resources that are available to them, just as they did Matt Brock and others. The sad part about it is that no one even stops to consider why? Oh well, you have a nice day! thumbup
