Reynolds Outdoors is a cool place with lots of guns, some hunting and fishing gear. Sportsmans Outpost is 10 minutes from Auburn, they cater to archery hunters.

If you want a good meal for dinner and want to spend some money: Acre and The Hound would be my two favorites. I also like Amsterdam Cafe. Those are in Auburn. Downtown Opelika is 10 minutes from Auburn and a better place to eat and hang out in my opinion. They have several good places to eat, ice cream shop, and brewery and distillery all within walking distance. We like the Irish Bred Pub and Zazu. If you don't want to spend a lot, Jeffersons and Niffers are both decent places to eat in downtown Opelika.

You could hang out with Pat Dye, but he might not have any pants on.

While you are watching the scenery, reflect on this---those summer session freshman girls are the ones who couldn't wait until fall to get out of their home town and cut loose. Just don't let your wife catch you having impure thoughts.

I'm not a big pimento cheese guy, but recommend dabbing the fried pork skins with their pimento cheese. Good stuff. And, a col'beer.

I know you jest, but seriously, that is an idea. They do tours of his tree farm and place. I don't know if it is for individuals or just for groups, but I would ride out there one day and check out his Japanese Maple nursery if nothing else. I think there is a little country museum in Notasulga or Loachapoka also while you are out that way.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I wish it wasn't going to be so hot, I would like to go fishing and hiking at the state park. Does anyone know if they have boats to rent at the state park?

They do not rent boats, I don't believe, but do have canoes. It has been awhile since I fished out there, however. I would call and ask what they have. It may have changed since when I went.
There are some nice trails and views in the park and along the creek, especially down the dirt road at the entrance. The creek is also fun to fish.
The brunch served at Acre is great and not nearly as pricey as dinner.
