Not the closest, but I don't want to start another thread. I missed 3 different deer out of the same treestand, on the same afternoon with my bow. They were all 20 yard or closer.

At the time I was hell on a dot with a bow at 20 yards but I got a case of the gips when I saw any deer.

I've never flat out missed a deer with my rifle yet. I have on a couple of coyotes. But atleast they were 250 or so yards on a rushed shot.

I've done one with a bow and it just happened to be way closer than expected. Had a nice wide buck come in and of course I forgot my range finder. He was on a ridge above me and I couldn't get a good guess so I used my 50 yard pin. That arrow soared way over his back. It ended up only like 30 yards.

Last year. Went to a buddies dog club in Calera area. Never heard the dogs but about got trampled by 2 does and a spike coming out of a pine thicket to cross the road . Shot 5 ft with 12 gauge buckshot but not sure I was even on them. No blood or anything. I was startled more than mad lol

8 yds. With a rifle and sitting on the ground. The 9 pointer with a long double brow tine was standing still looking the other way and broadside. I think I shot between his antlers.

Missed a gobbler at about 10 feet but killed the hell out of a 3in pine it walked behind

I had this big ten point on camera I was hunting and finally one day I caught a glimpse of him walking in the woods. I grunted to him and started raking the bark on the tree I was in and he broke and ran right to me. Before I could get ready he was literally standing at the base of my tree. I stuck the gun barrel through the bottom of my climber in between my feet and pulled the trigger. Well after showering his ass with dirt he ran about ten steps and dug a hole making a scrape. I was trying to jack another shell and get the gun up to shoot again but he caught on and lit off into the sunset. To put the icing on the cake my wife killed him a week later in the same place at 2:30 in the afternoon. I got ragged big time. I'm not gonna talk about my early bow hunting days but I can say I would have been better off throwing the bow at some of the ones I missed.

Not exactly a miss, but years ago we were dog hunting in Barbour county. A nice 8 point was walking up a hillside to me and when he got broadside at about 30 yards I pulled the trigger on my old 1100. The shell made a bad POOTEDSPIT sound and the buckshot dribbled out the barrel and hit the ground between me and the buck.
He ran down the hill and another guy shot it.

first elk I ever saw in the woods ,huge herd bull, he was about 35 yards broadsided and looking away from me at another bull, I had watched him 20-30 minutes as he slowly made his way to me I had elk fever so bad when I tried to draw my bow I couldn't, I thought my bow was messed up, realized the problem was me, I jerked my bow back and shot, didn't even aim, MISSED !I still get nervous just writing about it! sorry for the missed spelled words.

I missed at 13 yards, the bolt in the crossbow slid down the rail and the nock wasn't seated against the string. The bolt went about 5 feet and straight into the ground.

Last year got to go on the hunt of a lifetime in Missouri. Middle of rut. Seen more deer chasing in one day than 25years of hunting here. Had a mid 170s deer come out at 350 yds and watched him work a scrape line along the fence row I was in all the way to me. I shot him low at 25 yards on video. Still makes me sick to think about it

20 steps at a turkey , it still cause's me to lose sleep !!!Still see that little smirk on his face.
