What's the best thing to plant for bow season? I want to plant either today or tomorrow.

What type soil? What's the ph of the soil? How big of a plot? Lots of variables, but its hard to beat cereal rye/yucchi clover/crimson clover/ and dwarf Essex rape. Oats are another great planting for early season.

Go to hancockseed.com and pick a few of the things you are thinking about. It will tell you best ph, lb/ac, etc.

If you are just winging it, I would put 100lb ac of cereal Rye and a bag of clover mix. If it's a small plot, just go buy a bag of clover mix from academy or something and put it out. Read though, because a lot of those throw and go bags are mostly ryegrass.

Might want to plant something like soybeans or sunflowers. They would of course destroy them but it would darn sure get them in the plot until they did.

Yep. I planted a few sunflowers late in the year (August) and they are getting hammered. Good thing is they are dirt cheap.

Sunflowers are over $35 dollars a 50lb bag at Walmart, that's not cheap, but not too bad.

That seems high. I found a 40 pound bag on their website for $18. I bought a $7 bag from tractor supply (not sure of the weight) to mix in with my $75 bag of Eagle Seed beans.
