I had to run back to the office yesterday around 6pm. normally a 15 minute ride if I go the back way down 90. 45 minutes. I cant imagine the ride from say central Alabama to Miami in that traffic. My brother & his friend came here from just north of Orlando. His friend left yesterday and it took 16 hours to get home.

I can back from across the bay at 8 this morning and it was backed up from the tunnel damn near to 65. Crazy how people are scared to death to drive into a big pipe in the ground everyone freaks out before going into it. Us locals grind our teeth when we're behind some out-a-state sumbitch who slows down to 40 or even 35 mph going through the tunnel. Do we ever need a bridge!! its almost like they don't know what to expect because about 100 yards before entering the tunnel either side, all you see is BRAKE LIGHTS! morans When the Wallace tunnel was constructed in 73 it was designed for the East and West bound lanes to handle just so many vehicles daily for traffic to constantly move. Today it doubles that amount and on summer time holiday weekends it's well over 100,000. Funding for the bridge is underway FOX 10 reported a couple of weeks ago.

We got a call from the central FDOT district office that has concerns they may have to shut down BOTH directions of I 75 at the Santa Fe River. If that happens and those bridges are lost it's going to be a catastrophe of major proportions! They say half of the 6.5 M people that left have not returned.

Requests are underway, funding is not, yet. Went to a big meeting recently with ALDOT talking about status. Everyone is hopeful. We'll see...the biggest problem with the Wallace Tunnel is that the local politicians stuck their noses into the project and had the infamous 9 degree curve put in. I still maintain there are a handful of bastiges that should have been charged with murder and mayhem because of that chit...

We decided to go down hwy 19 you'll likely get hung up in Chiefland and all the small towns. Best thing you can do have a co-pilot use Waze and work your way around those log jams. Top of your tank every time you see a place once you burn 50% of you fuel.....or sooner.

I still maintain there are a handful of bastiges that should have been charged with murder and mayhem because of that chit... the BIGGEST Problem is ALDOT! None of the consortiums of reputable contractors want to work for them with $1.3B on the risk regeister. They are by far the worst DOT out there and have never ventured into these sized projects.
