Likewise, even though he's not named, with Bruce Pearl's previous problems at Illinois and Tennessee and everything going on at Auburn, it wouldn't surprise me if he and Jacobs are gone soon. Getting rid of coaches and ADs, even if it costs money, is one way schools show they're "being proactive" to the NCAA or feds or whomever.

So that means, possibly, that with basketball season starting literally just weeks from now they'd be looking for coaches. Likely an interim thing, sort of like how the guy coached the Baylor football team in 2016 for one season after Briles was fired.

So who would do that? A small college guy looking to step up, which leaves his team in the lurch on short notice? Someone retired or out of the game who could step in quickly?

Lot of ramifications with all this mess.

It's looking like this onion has many many layers and the layers are just beginning to see the light of day.

The part I find comical about it is people pearl clutching say I am absolutely shocked and horrified that illegal stuff could be happening...wake up and smell the roses it happens everywhere in sports and these folks got caught this time.

I think this has a lot of folks in college sports real worried tonight. These guys are facing jail time not a slap on the wrist and move on to the next place. It wouldn't surprise me to see one cut a deal and start airing everbody's dirty laundry.

This is Pittno's 3rd thing in less than 10 years. Always amazes me he always says it MY team, MY this, MY that. But now he is like what I didn't know.

Late last night I saw a tweet from a basketball guy who said his "always 100" guy told him that Pitino and Jurich would be out within 24 hours and Bruce Pearl would be fired by the end of the week.

He's 1 for 2 so far.

Ruh Roh. Nationally, this thing is far from over and will probably involve more schools than it doesn't. One of the worst kept secrets in the world is the crookedness of AAU/High School/NCAA basketball. This is far past an AU/UA feud. This has the FB freaking I involved now.

Just the tip of the iceberg.

I bet there are going to be a lot of Show Cause orders issued by the NCAA which means a plentiful crop of big name high school coaches in the future, unless they are so good the NBA or ESPN wants them.

Cash Cow Disease. It's got it's consequences.

With so many schools and coaches involved, I can't imagine sanctions could be very harsh for the schools. You can't punish everyone. It would decimate the sport completely.

How many teams are affected at this time?

Just a handful right now, but this is just getting cranked up. Subpoenas were issued to Nike today so that opens the doors to a lot of schools including the fighting Averys. IMO, it's basketball so who really cares anyway
