On top of doekiller's home burning, got home last night and found my 15 year old Irish Setter has passed away while I was at the office. Been expecting it but darn it hurt to see her laying on her bed by my chair. Funny thing is she was saying good bye tuesday night. She wanted to be right there with me and get on the bed which she never did.
she went and sniffed all of the beds and walked around all night.
She was the last in a long line of Irish Setters I have had, some of the best dogs around for families.
When Will(my grandson) was about 14 months old he sat and watched her give birth to 10 puppies one night.
Some say dogs do not go to heaven.
I hope they are wrong
I have heard that you have everything you need in heaven. If so my puppies will be there.
I remember a "Twilight Zone" episode where an old timmer and his dog passed away.
They were walking down a dirt road that had all sorts of game for the dog ( an old hound) and came to some gates. A dud in a suit stepped out and said Jed, come on in, we have been waiting for you.
Jed started in but the hound would not go in.
The dude said that's OK because dogs aren't allowed here.
Jed said, "In that case I just mosey on down the road." We have been together a long time and I think I will just stick with him."
The dud kept trying to convince Jed that this was the promised land and he should come in.
Finally there was a flash and smoke and the dud appeared as satan, with brimstone smoke all around him and said, " If it were not for your dog I could have gotten you in here." Jed said something to the effect that Ol Blue has kept me out of a lot of trouble i did not need to be in. Thanks anyway, I won't go anywhere that does not welcome my dog." Down around the next curve he came to another gate that welcomed he and blue in. Turned out it was the true Heaven.

Moral is trust your dog adn don't trust anyone your dog does not like.

I know Lou will be waiting for me with Belle and Big Red and Roho and Lady when I cross the river, or the rainbow bridge or what ever waits my soul in the end. And I will trust them to take care of me like they always have
Sorry for the long rant but I am feeling a little low to day and need ed to get it out.
Merry Christmas all
Judge
Damn its dusty in here

Let us cross over the river and rest in the shade of the trees

Sorry to hear that Judge.

Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

So sorry for your loss and the bad luck y'all are having but that was a beautiful tribute to your dogs. I too sure hope to see my yellow lab, ole Sadie Mae, waiting on me when I get to Heaven, as well as my English Golden Retriever, Tripp, that's still with me now. He's the best dog I've ever owned. Truly is family.

Bill, I know you don't post much anymore but when you do it's meaningful. I'm sorry for your loss. Gus my landshark is in here as I type this snoring like a jakebrake on a log truck. He can barely make it up the back deck stairs anymore. His time is coming and I can't imagine being without him. I feel your pain. My prayers are with you and you're family this Christmas!

That was a heck of a eulogy. Dogs are incredible. Are family lost a black lab, Ice, after she worked as our son’s service dog for 12 years. I always believed that if Ice had hands we would have never needed to hire nurses for our son. Loyal and loving is her legacy. Her photo is proudly on display in our living room on the fireplace mantle. Thanks again Judge. It’s amazing how that “dust” can spread.
