In my quest to suck less with my recurve, I have been finding things that I have taken for granted with my compound but are critical for consistent and accurate shots with both. For instance, if you don’t have a consistent anchor point, it would be like moving the rear sight on a rifle for every shot.

For me, I’ve found that anchoring on the bottom back corner of my jaw bone between my first two knuckles and touch my nose to a knot of severing (Shaw calls it a “booger button”) tied between my peep and nocking point provides me the most consistent anchoring points no matter the conditions.

Now with a recurve, I’m still working on findings what consistently works for me. But right now I’m anchoring with my middle finger touching the corner of my mouth and index finger touching my check bone.

third finger to the corner of my mouth, puts the arra a little higher for close shots, same three under and middle finger to corner without the noise of three under.

With a longbow I anchor with my middle finger touching the corner of my mouth. On a compound with a wrist strip I hook the webbing between my thumb and forefinger behind my jawbone. On a compound with a handheld release I place my fist on the backside of my jaw with the space between my forefinger and middle finger knuckles on the corner of my jawbone.
