Has anyone used Solu Cal lime? Its supposed be fast acting. Its used on lawns, food plots, and golf courses. Its supposed to be really good. Ive been trying to find a distributor in south AL. Ive contacted them and they are going to get back with me. http://www.solu-cal.com/
Lowes sales their label as Sta-green rapid lime, but its not available (prohibited) in our state for some reason. Pennington sales a fast acting lime but i dont know how it compares. Any info on the subject would be appreciative

I watched some suckers take in the sales job and put it on a yard tree. Unimpressed with the results. Can't say anything about application on field plots. But my fruit trees take a dose of triple 13 every winter add they take offf. That crap did nothing.. Tree's the same size it was 3 years ago.

If it works extremely fast it will be gone extremely fast. It's probably much more expensive than Ag lime or pelletized lime.

Particle size and soil types dictate how fast any lime product works. The smaller the particle size the quicker it will react with the soil, but also the quicker it will be gone. Lime reacts quicker with sandy soil than with clay soil. I have used the pennington fast acting lime on sandy soil and within about 3 months raised the ph up significantly, but it wont last as long. There is no magic potion, but using the fast acting stuff in conjunction with ag lime and doing regular soil samples should work.
