Every hs coach may be sent a form...damn sure dont mean every coach will return it. Our pitching coach did 100% more than hs coach did...cause he did NOTHING. I do know the shelton st coach made the comment last month at his winter camp "be careful who/what you pay for summer ball".

If he's a football player he needs to attend a Rivals rating camp before he starts his JR year. Most are in February. Other than that, whether baseball or football, you need to have them attend the day camps at schools they are interested in playing. These "pay us and we will create a recruiting profile for your child and contact our list of coaches" are pretty much all scams and a waste of your time and money. If your kid can play coaches will find him. My lack of knowledge in the recruiting process limited my oldest son's exposure to some extent. I should have had him attending camps as a sophomore but waited til the summer before his senior year to start. I just didn't know any better at the time. Luckily for him, he played/ threw it very well at the first 2 camps he attended that spring/summer, got noticed by those staffs, and then got offers from almost every camp he attended after that.
In football, if your son is rated on Rivals, they track and update offers once you're in their database. Once you get that first offer, especially if it's a D1 school, other coaches will take notice and things will take off quickly from there. Baseball is the same way, it's all predicated on getting that first offer which essentially validates you as an athlete to other coaching staffs. Once you've got an offer in hand, you can have your son contact the staffs at other schools that he's interested in, and tell them that he's got an offer or offers from xxx, xxx university and is interested in their school and would like to attend one of their camps or workout for them and he will immediately get much more serious consideration than just a cold call or camp visit. That first offer gives him credibility with any staff he contacts. Most camps we attended had between 200 and 400 kids working out and the coaches generally only kept 5 or 6 players around after the camp to even discuss options. Unless you're a 4 or 5 star, already known to the staff, or your can throw it 80 yds, are 6'5" and 300, or run a 4.4, you've got to find someway to standout from the crowd. And trust me, there will be crowds at every camp you attend, regardless of the size of the school. D1, D2 or D3, they will all be packed.

Most of the recruiters that came in our office were more interested in who else had offered or was interested in an athlete than observing what the athlete could actually do.

Hard for a college coach to get to a high school game since they're practicing/playing at pretty much the same time. Pretty cool to go to Lakepoint or east cobb and pick out the college coaches/recruiters. And why would they want to go to a hs game to see their guy play a team that might have a college level player on it, when they can go to lakepoint, sit in air conditioning and see 8 different teams playing, while only having to move a few feet? That's why a hs coach has work his butt off for his kids if he wants them to get noticed.
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Anyone have any experience with any of them and your kids? For starters if they are asking you for money, they don't have relationships with College Coaches. Legitimate guys with connections charge the school a fee or do it for no charge. The if your good they'll find you theory is old school and out dated. You need to start ASAP if you kid has the potential to play at the next level. I can point you in the right direction if you want. It can get stressful, my son is a FBS football recruit right now.
